Not a single Colorado recruit

First time ever?

Not the first time ever, but the first time in many years...and one of about 5 in the history of UW football.

I know we "lost" 2 recruits to the Lambs...and that the overall talent level was down compared to other years...but not conviced there weren't options that would have worked.

Also nobody from Wyoming given a sniff either. Hmmmmm

DC is still looking at 2 more positions to fill, so who knows. Plus at least one Wyoming guy has said he'd walk on.

Who is the walk on? Aren't the 2 positions the JC variety...did you get the same impression I did?

Maybe I am reading into it too much...but isn't Marty English the recruiter in Colorado?

Thought I saw someone post that he had decided to walk on to the Pokes a while back.

And he didn't specify that it would be JC, just that he is looking to fill in the last 2 spots.

DC and co gave Roberts a "sniff" or whatever you called it, and offered a greyshirt...but the kid turned it down. Not DC's fault.

Now can we all stop bitching about recruiting Wyo kids????

Who is bitching? I am obviously not DC...my livelyhood doesn't rest on what an 18 year old kid does / doesn't do. His does...so he can (and should) do as he needs, to stay employed.

I have my own opinions about recruiting, including recruiting in Wyoming...but as a fan / booster, not sure it matters much.

They could come from South Korea as long as they play hard and help our team for all I care

Walk on is an O lineman from Lovell, Garrett Angell(?). Big boy, 6'4" 330, but needs to drop a few pounds and work on his technique.

University of Colorado only recruited three Colorado high school players. All the good ones went out of state to big-name schools.

And they were linemen, which come at a premium too.

Those of us who were a little surprised by the total lack of players from anywhere along the Front Range are mostly concerned about defending home turf. We have historically gotten more than a few diamonds in the rough from Colorado. I, for one, consider the Denver Metro as much our local turf as it is local for the other schools who send alumni to live and work there.

I think Derek Martin was a Colorado guy too, except that he was higher-profile.

What ever happened to the quarterback from Grand Junction that was supposed to be interested? He might not end up a QB, but I thought we would have heard something about him by now.

Derrick Martin, like many of our players who make it in the NFL, was only a 2* recruit. He turned out to be a very good DB, but he wasn't highly recruited out of high school.

The QB from Grand Junction signed with UNC (Norther Colorado).

It appears like the talent level in Colorado was down this year. I do think we might have signed a grayshirt from Elizabeth Colorado.....but I haven't seen anything since signing day.

For what it is worth, both Galand Thaxton and Jim Talich arrived in Laramie as walk-ons from Colorado and Wyoming respectively. They rank as #1 and #2 in career tackles for us and, I believe, started for 4 years each at middle linebacker.

Historically, we have not exclusively relied on scholarship players out of high school for all of our production.
