No News Is...

I have the Green Bay Blizzard about 45 minutes away, been to a couple of games and I think the Resch Center sits close to 8500 or so for football.

We have the Fairbanks Grizzlies here. Let's just say that the level of play is just north of terrible and the team has been teetering on the brink of financial collapse since day one.

You're in Fairbanks? I'm stationed at Eielson! Any good places to watch UW games? I watched the streams online that Wyodal put up.

Well, the Cavs lost to SF as posted earlier... it wasn't pretty. But we rebounded last Friday with a win over the Colorado Ice here in Casper. 59-53. That guarantees us 6th seed (out of 6) in the Intense Conference. Even if we win the two remaining games against the Omaha Beef and Nebraska Danger, we will probably only be able to get up to 5th seed. So that means that playoffs for the Cavalry will be completely on the road. And a good road team we have not been.

As far as Spiderman leaving us, you can't blame him. First he got a try out with a CFL team and when that didn't work out, he had to make a choice. Come back to a team that won't make the move to a more competitive league, or pick a team that has a good chance of winning it all in what is probably the most talented league in indoor football (not counting AFL of course).

Cowduck.... since you're in Fairbanks, who are you going to be at the game rooting for if the Cavs end up there in the playoffs?????? Actually, the Grizzlies have made a remarkable season out of an 0-3 start. I've heard they fixed their financial issues and since then they have gone 9-1 with an 8-0 run.

The outlaws leaving had zero to do with the metra, the metra is ready and they couldve used their state of the art indoor practice facility. They were involved with a little bit of a cocaine conspiracy... i hope billings gets a team

i don't blame spidey at all, but that didn't stop me from referring to him as "lebron jones" all night at the SF game

the cfl really missed out not nabbing him when they had the chance imho, his height and weight measureables aren't where they should be for a pro RB but what he lacks in size he makes up for with heart and badassery

I'm fortunate enough to have a clear view of the southern sky to get DirecTV so I get the .mtn. It used to be that you could watch games at the Gold Rush Saloon on Peger and Van Horn but they haven't really catered to college fans much lately. My first fall here was pretty hilarious - every Saturday morning I would go there and drink $2 pints of mystery brew and watch Poke games with about 8 other people in the joint: a couple of Tennessee fans, a couple of Texas fans, and 3-4 dudes watching every screen nervously and hunched over cell phones periodically, presumably talking to their bookies. After that they quit catering to college fans - they don't pay for GamePlan or any other sports packages anymore. That is a very busy place on NFL Sundays though.

I haven't tried the Hideout in its most recent incarnation but they might be a good bet. Boston's is theoretically capable of screening Pokes games but my experience with them is that they aren't very responsive to requests to flip to a particular game.

How long have you been up here? Suffered through an interior Alaska winter yet?

I got to Eielson in November 2009, and did "winter over" that year. I deployed right before this last winter, so I missed out on the winter wonderland in favor of a desert wonderland. I don't mind the cold, and actually prefer it to the 115F temps that I'm seeing now.
