NM Bowl lodging Info

Yo,

just reserved a room there (just in case). Marriott is offering some great deals. The Towneplace Suites (ABQ Airport) is only about 600 yards from the stadium (stumbling distance) and is offering rooms for 59.00 a night throughout the weekend (studio Queen w/sofa sleeper). This one also has other rooms (two bedroom suites and others) for around 100 a night. The Fairfield Inn (about 100 yards away from the first one) is offering rooms at the same price. Both have airport shuttles. Not sure what the nightlife is like around there (a little far from the U's bar district but I imagine there are some decent places.

Reserving a room costs nothing and you can cancel if we get a different bowl. Just thought I would put it out there as I imagine the prices and rooms will fill up soon. :willybs:

Tailgating rules and stadium layout found here (not sure if the rules are different for the bowl game): http://www.golobos.com/facilities/nm-university-stadium.html

If anyone has any info on where to stay in Fort Worth or Boise, that would be much appreciated.

From the MWC Board, some of the LoboFans provided some dining options:

Great New Mexican food with a prices you can't beat:

Los Cuates Restaurant: It's very authentic and for the price you simply can't beat it. Dinner for two will run you around $20-25 minus alcholic drinks. I suggest their Combinacion Los Cuates plate, huge meal with a Taco, Enchilada, Tamale, Rice and Beans smothered with Red or Green chile and cheese for only $8.25

Sadie's Restaurant: Careful, the red chile is hot! IMO they have the best salsa out of all the restaurants and it's hot as well. Their food is very good and also reasonably priced. Their taco or enchilada plate are very good. Nice atmosphere and you can sit in the patio but I'm sure it'll be close for the winter.

Cervantes Restaurant and Lounge: Another Albuquerque favorite with great food and reasonably priced. Probably the closest to the Stadium too.

Good food but slightly above in Price:

Gardunos Restaurant: Has the best name brand and that's about it. Owned by the Maloofs who also own the Sacramento Kings and Palms Casino. Their food is not bad but it's more of a "white New Mexican food", very Americanized New Mexican food at this place. Their meals aren't as authentic, more restaurant style than the other's above who serve more homestyle type dishes. Their prices are way above that of the other 3 restaurants. Nice scenery or theme inside and great selection of margaritas.

El Pinto Restaurant: To be honest, I've NEVER eaten here. I've always heard it's nice place with good food but their prices are ridicoulus and that's why I've never eaten here. $15 for a Burrito Plate?? Give me a break! I hear it's more for tourist and it's probably the farthest away from the Stadium. Their salsa is very good too.

Good New Mexican Fast food worth a try:

Bob's Burgers: Home of the famous Taco Burger. You get a thin burger patty that's cut in half stuffed in a taco shell with lettuce, tomatoes, cheese and green chile that is out of this world!! Try their small Burger supreme, it's basically like an In and Out burger with green chile inside. Smother you fries with cheese and green chile too! All cheap too. Stay away from their red chile, it's very very hot!

Twisters Grill: Another favorite if you want to go on the cheap with great taste. You absolutely have to try the Twister burrito. It's a burrito (chicken, beef, carne adovada <--highly recommend)covered with curly fries completely smothered with lettuce, tomatoes, cheese and red/green chile on top. One of my favorite places that has great Red Chile. They have the full size Twister which is a 7 pound monster of a meal!

If you don't want to have New Mexican food and want to just have a great tasting burger:

Blake's Lotaburger: You aboslutely have to try the double meat and cheese lotaburger. Better yet try it with green chile, you won't regret it. It's diced green chile and not like a sause that restaurants use in their dishes.

I'm gonna wait till the "official" UW hotel is announced where the team will also be staying. Bowl games are much more fun if all the fans can congregate in one place and have fun at the hotel bars :)

Here are some quality dining choices...amongst many...

Looks like the Sheraton Uptown is the MWC team hotel. Unfortunately they are not yet taking reservations at the special rates for fans...
