NIL for Wyoming High school athletes??……..

This could be pretty funny in towns like Casper and Gillette. Folks competing to lure athletes to their school with money. I believe Cheyenne requires students to attend high school based on their location.

There's not enough money in the state to impact college athletics let alone high school. Hopefully a few kids get a little money for advertising the local gas station, but not a big deal.

Apparently you haven’t been around some of the ‘travel ball parents’ around the state recently. I fully expect some pretty funny offers of cash to stack a school in Casper or Gillette. It won’t matter for the rest of the state by and large because they will have the players they are going to have.

I could see some wealthy folks luring kids to Kelly Walsh since NC has been the dominant football program in Casper. For many years. Casper is school choice and the better football players have chose NC.

I do hope so. KW stinks really bad in football. Great in all other sports. GO Trojans. Was attending KW until middle of my Junior year when I had to move to OKC.

There are boundaries in Cheyenne but given the state of athletics at South still in year 15, I'm guessing there are plenty of kids going over to East or Central to avoid getting their heads kicked in, in every sport, every year.

I had not heard of that but South has a large enough student population that it should be more competitive in at least some sports so that makes sense.

They have the best cheerleading squad (nationally competitive) that this state has ever seen.

But I don’t think anyone knows the answers to fix that mess of a sports program. Creating basically a caste system of high schools in Cheyenne based on family income was the worst idea ever.

All the good athletes in South school district find a way somehow to attend either east or central. It’s bogus

There are plenty of good enough athletes residing in south school district to where they don’t have to suck as bad as they do.

The problem is that most sports are team sports where just having a few good athletes on an incomplete team with constant roster turnover isn’t likely to produce good results.

South has had the occasional successful tennis player and wrestler which makes sense.

What do you think about Thunder Basin acquiring all the wrestling talent or Natrona acquiring the football talent?
Also bogus. It’s totally unfair to a school like Laramie, Evanston, Riverton, Sheridan, Rock Springs, Star Valley, etc. that doesn’t have the option to cherry pick good athletes from other schools. It’s essentially forcing theses schools to compete in a higher classification all while being smaller in terms of enrollment anyway

Sheridan right now is enjoying dominance much like Campbell County did a few years back. I wonder if Sheridan benefits from students who probably should be enrolled in other nearby schools?

I think they get some from the smaller schools if there are good players there. Like big horn and tongue river. And conversely, big horn picks up some Sheridan rejects

Maybe, but I suspect school vouchers and district rules will play a llarger part? I honestly don't know enough to have a good perspective on this.
