NFL draft

I don't think NFL teams have a preference for players from Power 4 teams. It's just that Power 4 teams tend to have the most talent on them, especially since NIL and the changing of transfer rules. It wasn't but just 5 years ago when nearly a third of all NFL draftees were from non-Power schools.

I don't think it's impossible for a fringe O-lineman to be drafted in the late rounds from a school like Wyoming, even in this new world of college football. Guys like Caden Barnett and Jack Walsh were not far off from being drafted this year.
The point is they did not get drafted even if they were on the "fringe". It looks like the UDFA route is now realistically the draft when it comes to non-P4 program players.

How do you conclude that a guy who wasn't drafted was 'not far off' from getting drafted? I mean, there is no list (to my knowledge) of here are guys who would have been drafted if there were 15 more picks in the draft. Jack Walsh wasn't even signed to a UDFA deal (I'd suspect he gets a rookie camp invite somewhere).

The mere fact that they weren't drafted evidences that they were not considered NFL draft picks.

This is all going to be a feedback loop of more talent leaving the G6 schools.

Coaches looking to poach players will now probably tell them that they have a very small chance to be drafted out of a G6 and that they should transfer if they hope to have an NFL future.
