Next round of realignment just started

Syracuse and Pittsburgh just joined the ACC.

Rumors are flying that the Big 12 will somehow survive and that AFA, BYU, TCU and others ofrom the Big East and current Big 12 will make up the 12-team league. Wyoming will be left behind in a merger of sorts between the MWC and the WAC.

TCU wants nothing to do with Texas. AFA, no matter what conference, will always be looking at a certain type of athlete. And from the looks of things, the Big 12 may not last much longer either, basically a sinking ship.

Hearing the same. The MWC is the sinking ship, not the Big-12. Apparently the below is a foregone conclusion from everything I've read.

Within a month, your new Big-12.......

West Division

Air Force
Boise State
BYU
Houston
Kansas
Kansas State

East Division

Baylor
Cincinnati
Iowa State
Louisville
Missouri
TCU

What is the buyout rate to leave the MWC, will BSU want to pony up again is the real question?

Keep thinking it's $5 million but I could be wrong.

I've read more things than that today. I've read that Texas, Texas Tech, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State are moving to the Pac-12..........it all came from orangebloods and is floating around out there.

And so many other things. It's a mess out there. Different things throughout the years have led to this BS.

Really it's more like Texas wants nothing to do with TCU.

Baylor and Houston would be east of TCU.
Fort Worth is known as where the West begins.

Not from what TCU fans have said on the MWC board.

That's what I thought.

Well....we'll see who saves their jobs soon. Beebe of the Big XII or Thompson of the MWC. My guess: 95% chance it'll be Beebe.

So, how fucked is Wyoming going to be?
When this stuff actually goes down, we'll find out. This crap will not happen with lawsuits galore. I truly believe congress will eventually get involved.

I know. I know what you are talking about but it goes back many years before the young fans were born. Texas didn't want anything to do with us old Southwest Conference teams. Texas long ago demanded for and received special priveleges.

A lot of things happened through the years. Even the Big 8 hurt Houston, Rice, SMU and TCU with what they did with Texas years ago. There was a February '94 article out there recently explaining some of that BS that went on. What could have become a Big 16 became the Big 12 with Nebraska, Oklahoma, Texas and Texas A&M getting the special priveleges at the beginning. Only the politicians got Texas Tech and Baylor in. We always learned that Texas would take Texas A&M but did not want any other Texas program. The Big 8 didn't want the others either. Baylor's facilities were just shit back then. They were not attractive. And Baylor thought they would be competitive. ( I think they have 18 conference wins in 15 years?? Something like that.)
Even today Baylor gets trash talked for what they have not done to improve their positions with all of their AQ conference money. People say that they have done less with more for their football program. And still talk about all the problems they had in things like men's basketball etc. And their old stadium etc.

Of course, it's just fans comments I'm reading on the message boards but New Mexico and Wyoming are not talked about very well.
Air Force and Colorado State are talked about with more interest. Of course, they have more population and tv market value. Whatever else is wanted????

To much doom and gloom people. Wyoming will be fine and the MWC will most likely be untouched. If there is a movement to 4 super conferences, who from the MWC is good enough for the upgrade?

In researching my next article I just emailed Bret Gilliland the deputy commissioner of the MWC and asked a few questions, we will see if I get an answer. If it is like my days of covering NASCAR I should know better, you would think I would learn if you want an answer you have to get in their face in person but we will see.

I can't take much more of this realignment crap that is ruining college sports. I want it to be over with.
+1 Trillion

I'll stick by my prediction from a year ago: By 2025 there will be no such thing as "conferences" in college sports.
