Bye week gives UW some time to relax (WTE)
Cowboys will use bye week to fix the basics (CST)
From ESPN Blogger:
2. Wyoming can score: Congratulations to Wyoming for scoring its first Mountain West Conference touchdown of the season. It's been four games, so it was a long time coming. Wyoming isn't exactly the team many hoped it would be this season. It's 2-5 on the year, 0-4 in conference, and a far cry from the team that was picked to finish fifth in the conference. It's not like the Cowboys can't move the ball. They actually outgained Utah by 10 yards on Saturday, but they had five turnovers to bring their total to 27 on the season. That's the most turnovers in the country.
What we learned from the Independents and non-BCS, week 7
...and from Coacheshotseat.com...
7. Joe Glenn, Wyoming – We fully expected Utah to blowout Joe Glenn and Wyoming (40-7) out, but after watching a replay of the game on Sunday night, we are pretty disappointed with the level of intensity that the Wyoming Cowboys played against the Utes. Now with a 28-38 (.424) record in his sixth year at Wyoming, even Joe Glenn would probably admit that he has not achieved what he expected of himself at Wyoming, and unless there is a turnaround in both number of wins and level of play by the Cowboys in ’08, a U-Haul moving truck reservation will be needed for Joe Glenn as well. The good news is that Wyoming has a week off, which guarantees no loss this week (we think), but after the week off a road trip to play TCU is in the offing. Ouch! After TCU, the Cowboys have San Diego State, at Tennessee (hey, they might win this game against the Vols!), at UNLV, and Colorado State, and all of those games will probably mean a 2, 3, or at best a 4 win season for Wyoming in ’08. 4 wins in ’08 will probably not be good enough for Glenn to keep his job at Wyoming and we fully expect to see Joe Glenn and his smiling face somewhere on TV next year doing commentary on college football. We have this strange feeling that Joe might just enjoy a respite into TV land after several tough years at Wyoming, and Wyoming is going to find if they go looking for a new head coach that there are literally dozens of very good football coaches that would love the shot to be the head coach at a school in the Mountain West Conference. Have a nice off week Cowboys, because mean ‘ole TCU is up next!
