Wrestling Excited to Open New State-of-the-Art Practice Facility - University of Wyoming Athletics

LARAMIE, Wyoming (6/18/25) – The University of Wyoming wrestling team will soon have a new practice home. The Cowboys are scheduled to move into their new facility

I have been told by multiple sources that Wyoming's wrestling facilities are already at or above most schools in the nation. This type of facility puts them squarely in the Top-5 of the Big-12 and probably outpaces some B1G schools. If Wyoming could attract some big donors for the WWRTC it would really help the program.

Very cool. It was sorely needed. I did not think our facilities were great at all. Like, honestly, high school level. So this is welcome and badly needed .

So are they filling in the pool at Corbett to accomplish this?

Yes they are just filling the pool in. I've heard from multiple people that Wyoming's facilities are actually better than most programs even though we may consider them small.

Now this type of facility will put them above Nebraska wrestling facility. Some big donors for the RTC would also go a long way

That is certainly a take. Non-revenue sports can generate views for the University and with Title IX requirements you must carry a certain amount of sports. So it is between Wrestling or Men's Golf on which one you don't want to fund.

The money bill is lower because the building and everything is done. They will have to fill the pool but overall the cost is not much compared to a new facility. Wrestling could have raised that money via donors as well. I donate to the WWRTC because I know it goes directly to the team and keeps the dirty admin out of it.
