New Secondary Coaches

From the Fresno Bee and Cowboy Altitude, David Brown from Fresno State is the new Safeties coach and John Richardson is the new Cornerbacks coach.

Fresno State ranked 117th in passing yards allowed last year (worse than Wyoming), 93rd in team pass efficiency defense (better than Wyoming), and tied for 40th in passes intercepted with 14 (better than Wyoming's 9).

After graduating in 2008, and serving as defensive assistant at NDSU, this is John Richardson's first year as a coach at the FBS level.

I desperately want both of these coaches to succeed. I watched Fresno's secondary last year and was not impressed in the least. Also just to throw it out there, I am not a Steve Stanard-as-Coordinator fan at all. He's been a part of some of the worst defensive football of the last decade at CSU, Tulane and New Mexico State. I know he hasn't coached game one at Wyoming but good god, statistically, the man appears to be even worse than Tormey.

There is someone on the coaching staff that I like. Couple of coins for the football program this 2014.

Actually, it was Fresno's CBs that were getting eaten alive, since by mid season they were down to walk ons (one was 5'6). Injuries ate them alive, along with depth (well, lack thereof).

Sorry it sounds analytical, just got done typing up a lab report for Historical Geology. Bad thing is, I didn't realize it was a lab class until I read that we had to order a $200 labkit. :x

Anyways, we'll see how Bohl does this soon enough.

CB's are part of the secondary along with safeties, correct? He'll be coaching safeties at Wyo but was the secondary coach at Fresno. Maybe it was injuries, maybe it wasn't.

Interestingly enough, based on last year's results through the first six games of the season, Fresno allowed 1,668 yards passing. Through the last six games, they allowed 1,670. Season high of 577 vs. San Jose State in week 14 and a low of 140 against Wyoming in week 11.

Maybe he recruits well because so far, based on performance, his secondary hasn't been that impressive.

Brown wasn't the problem at Fresno State. On top of that Brown will be the SoCal recruiter going forth. Was a very important pick-up imo.

Jordan Peterson coached the CB's, Brown coached the safeties.

Yeah, I guess you're right. Although from what I saw, it looked like there wasn't a lot of coaching going on at all.

If you think Brown didn't have anything to do with last year's Fresno pass defense you're SUSPECT.

Like I mentioned, I hope he's great and just wanted to get the hell out of Fresno and recruit Southern California kids to Laramie. We'll see I guess.

You could say the same for us...

I did, many times. Angrily. To whoever would listen. I suspect many fans did the same.

To this day, any time my dog hears the phrase "DON'T TAKE ANOTHER FUCKING KNEE!!" she runs outside on command. I said it way too much.
