New Respect for Pres. Sternberg

I have faith in this guy. He just responded to an email with some candid words. Personally from him. I responded to him. .. he replied back. To me. .. this meant the world. I have faith in him to do the right thing. Much needed boost to a depressed fan.

I know you did not ask for a response to your suggestion.  But I am determined to fix whatever is wrong with our football and men's basketball teams.  That is why we hired a consultant.  We are working on it and we will get better—much better.
   Thanks for writing.
Best, Bob

Yes, last night was pretty bad, following what was even worse the week before. We will fix this. I am determined to. Thanks again for writing. Best, Bob

WTF is up with ringolsbys beef with sternberg? From what I have seen he is making 10x the effort Buchanan did with athletics. Buchanan was a terrible president. I took some classes from him when he was a lecturer in the geography department and he sucked at that too. Cant figure out how he got the job.

I am hoping Sternberg feels the urge to make his mark on UW. Enough with the current regime.....make new hires at AD and head football coach.

I like what I am hearing from Sternberg so far. Now let's see if the actions follow suit. It was a start at least with the consulting group. Hopefully he backs up his words.

Maybe he will be like Boise St.'s president. That would be a huge upgrade.

I hope they make some of the consulting groups findings public. They had better do more than just point out the obvious.

Same here. I want action, not words.

I think he will do what is best. This consultant thing may not yield a damned thing. Come pilfer our money and leave. But either way, i think DC's seat got a little warmer by doing it.

I think we have a good head coch. I think Brett has a good relationship with him. Next year is the final year in my book. I am trying to give a pass this year. But next year, 8-4 or more to keep your job. I dont care about the schedule. I would hate to see Brett's sr year be switched to a boring offense where he is handing the ball off every time.

Our saving grace is Fresno State game. National TV. Two weeks to prepare. Fresno is @ Nevada this weekend. Will have a good effort there from Nevada that would need game planning for. Fresno is vulnerable. I watched that SDSU game. Carr is a stud, but that team isnt BCS caliber. You thought Hawaii got b#tch slapped in their BCS game...just wait.

Consultants are usually a waste, in my experience, except in the case where they include interviews with the proper people. In this case that would be us, the fans, and the players. Do you think this will happen?

Agree, and to answer your last question, no.

Also, why the digging into the men's basketball? Not that we are world beaters, but we are not shitty like we are in football. Should have dug into Golf, Volleyball, Etc.

Because football and men's basketball are the only sports that make money. Nothing will come from the men's basketball aspect, but from a business standpoint it has to be done.

Well, if you just look at conference results, we are far worse in basketball than football. Even under Shyatt, we were in the play in game last year. Even Shyatt's 1st year back was under 500 in the conference. We were 3d in the conference in football just 2 years ago.

True. But looking at the entire athletic department, including (most importantly), the directors and staff - the entire "body of work" should have been evaluated. And maybe it was. As has been rehashed on here many times, we are very unsuccessful athletically in the MWC in all sports. We are simply not competitive in the MWC at anything - with the exception of Women's hoops. And we have no vision, or no aspirations, of doing anything outside of being mediocre and "fine" with where we are and who we match up against budget wise.
