new president

I hope when ever they hire a new president at the university of wyoming, his number one goal with athletics, is to fire Tom Burman. We need a new AD that will not rip season ticket holders off. I dont want to hear about promo deals, everytime I go to a football game or a cowboy basketball game. We can bring up how he hired this coach, or that coach. We need to bring a guy in here that can run a athletic dept without a bunch of state money. How would he be able to run athletics without state money, fire a bunch of people. The state of wyoming has to build schools and roads around the state, they dont have to help bozo the clown run his athletic dept. :brick:

So you're saying you want cheap tickets, but want the AD to run the sports programs without state aid? So what's your solution, charge the students outrageous fees? You can't have your cake and eat it too in this situation. I feel like our ticket prices are very fair, and the concession prices are pretty good, too. I don't know what your beef with Burman is, but you sound like an idiot.

lol.. I love hearing fans complain about season tickets in Laramie.. I paid $225 for my Montana Grizzly season tickets this season.. I think that was something like.. $40 more expensive than the season tickets at UW this year. The Montana State game alone is a $65 dollar ticket. I think UWs season tickets are pretty fairly priced.

I agree about ticket prices... NO ONE should be complaining.

I do however agree about finding a new AD. One that CAN entice more state funding. A president AD combo that can find ways to show the state UW Athletics are a good investment. Bring in a business man, salesman, hypnotist, I don't care! Just get some capable administrators that can get the state to buy into UW.

I do believe he is saying its unfair that he pays for season tickets and then they run the "4 tickets, 4 shirts, 4 terrible hotdogs, 4 pepsi's and a pear tree" deal. To an extent I agree but if the tickets didn't sell why not get 4 asses in the seat that might not otherwise be there.

I absolutely DISAGREE with the original poster. Season tickets are very reasonable and I am glad that the athletics department runs promo deals that makes single games affordable for families that likely can only go to one or two games.

By indicating that you want NO state money to go to the athletics department, you might as well state that you want the athletics department to go away.

I beg your pardon, but the OP is out of his/her mind.

If you look what's been accomplished under Tom Burman's watch then how in the heck can you say he deserves to be fired? New facilities, winning programs, improved athletics are all things that have come to fruition under his time as AD. As for the state money, well if you want UW to go back to the stone age, go ahead and cut that and ask the 500,000 residents of the state to poney up directly. Sorry, it won't happen. I don't know what Tom Burman did to you personally, but I suggest you get over it.

My problem is what ever you charge for season tickets, everone should pay. I dont want to pay 215.00 for football tickets, then a couple weeks before the season, he sells them for 95.00 bucks. I no he will do this in basketball to. Tom burman is a clown, as a fan my goal is to out last him. I no this clown cant be hear forever. :willybs:

I agree that's messed up - season ticket holders should be rewarded for their commitment to the program, not punished.

On the other hand, getting as many butts in the seats as possible while still pulling in maximum profit will always be a major goal, regardless who the AD is.

He was very gracious to the University and funding for the university as a whole as positive. I think he would be a great replacement :)

He is an adjunct professor at the College of Law.

Burman has done great things for UW as a whole athletically, way better than Lee Moon ever thought of, so glad to be rid of that clown. The people that complain about season ticket prices are those that haven't had them, and have finally decided to jump the bandwagon, hey dudes where ya been. I've been lucky over the years to win tickets from radio stations in Cheyenne and Laramie so I haven't had the need, but now that our Pokes are coming around other people around me want to go, so if I don't win them nobody goes with me(sad). I broke down and bought my 1st season tickets so I could support the Nebraska showing and kinda glad I did. I got calls gallore in the off season and said no thanks, I'll go individually gladly. I'm glad I waited to say the least as a few weeks ago they had that $95 season ticket plan, man that was a no brainer, especially when a conference game is $40. What I'm saying is our fans are extremely fickle and like the Wyo weather, they might have went in the 80's and 90's when tickets were around 17-25 bucks a pop. Man, in order to be competitive we needed to pay our coaches(of which I'm glad they finally did), hence the prices of tickets go up amongst other things. It's not 1988 anymore. Now alot of fair weather fans are upset that they see the individual ticket price, and are mad that there's no TV coverage.....GOTTA MAKE UP FOR IT SOMEWHERE. We're on the right track and I love where we're headed, as I thought once success hit DC he may leave like all others, with him I'm starting to see things differently. Burman is doing the best job he can and I support what's going on, those of you that don't like the pricing, the radio's always there...GO POKES....some may still be upset, but it's the only University we have come on out and support the upcoming Pokes and have a good time!!!!

The promotion is clearly to entice people who may have gone to a game or two in the past to buy season tickets. The $95 deal they ran was for really crappy seats that no one was buying anyways, so it didn't hurt my feelings at all. The people that took advantage of this and go to 5 or 6 games this season will likely renew next year for better seating.

This is called marketing. Look it up. Give people a reason to buy your product, then if they like it they will continue to buy in.

If people have problem with the price of tickets, just think of the extra cost above what you think the ticket should be priced as a donation to wyoming athletics.
