Everyone on the board seems pretty disgusted with the current athletic director. UW has a new President who seems engaged with athletics (unlike the prior President). I would suggest everyone send an email the new President to express their frustration. His email address is: [email protected]. He has already indicated he is "listening".

He should read a few threads on this message board, that will do the trick.
 
While Reeves is from Wyoming i don't get the feeling he is one of the good old boys. He has been gone for so long and not really associated with UW before that. None of the leadership at UW really knows who is or how he works. He is sort of a wildcard.
 
Several quick things on General Reeves that aren't sports related that I'm not sure y'all have seen but will be important moving forward:

1. Hired new Executive VP in Kraig Sheetz. His hand picked right hand man from West Point. His background is pretty incredible and has ties to Dubois. Dude is an absolute genuius, so to get a guy of his caliber to UW as second in command is pretty incredible. https://www.uwyo.edu/news/2026/04/u...oints-sheetz-as-executive-vice-president.html

2. Reeves has proposed a new organization chart for UW that if you compare to Ed's is about 100X simpler and shows the importance of Sheetz' new role. https://www.uwyo.edu/trustees/_file...utive-vice-president-leadership-structure.pdf Current chart is here. https://www.uwyo.edu/president/_files/homepage/uw-orgchart-12-12-2025.pdf

3. Look at any post related to Reeves being appointed president and read the comments. I haven't found even one negative comment. That's hard to do these days. One post from a current university president called him a unicorn of a leader. People associated with West Point were devastated to lose him. This should put some minds at ease.

4. Whether it's the AD or any other position, this is the guy you want making hires for the future. I doubt he's going to clean house or anything immediately, but if anyone in a leadership role isn't all in, wanting to move the university to a higher standing and can't adapt to currently changing climates, he'll have no problem bringing in someone who will. He won't stand for complacency.

5. He's not a good ol boy in the sense that any gov't official, trustee or other will be able to strong arm him into doing their bidding.

Lastly, the days of scandals, unethical practices/decions, etc. is over and UW just attached a rocket to its back and this place is headed to the moon.....if it were a stock, I'd be putting all my savings in on it. Saddle up and enjoy the ride boys!

Great post, and great information. I feel like this hire will go down as one of the best for the U of W. Of course athletically, we all (here in this site) want wins, and championships...which haven't occurred much since the turn of the century.

I appreciate it. Much like you guys here, my priority is on athletics and championships, but a rising tide lifts all boats. Reeves said something interesting during the interview process. He talked about how there's no reason a kid from California living on the beach should be choosing to go to Ole Miss or Alabama and live in Oxford or Tuscaloosa, but that they're doing so because athletic success has made those places appealing. Kids want to go to places with fun athletic atmospheres where athletics is a sense of pride. He talked about how athletics is central to overall university success and increasing enrollment numbers. He said there's no reason Wyoming can't be the same.

I'm not saying anything you've said is incorrect, but I do wish you would clarify your relationship with/to President Reeves.

You've only posted on two threads and both times you've talked up President Reeves as if he was God. You obviously aren't interested in Wyoming athletics enough to comment on any of the other hundreds of threads that are explicitly discussing Wyoming athletics directly.

So...who are you and what is you connection to President Reeves?

haha.....maybe I'll eventually get more active on the sports specific threads (right now I just read/follow). I was on the MWC board for probably 7 years or so and posted on a regular basis when it was going strong and have been passionate about Wyoming athletics for 40 years. Kinda got burned out on message boards for a bit.

I did join here strictly to post about Reeves during the interview process to voice my support and try to ease any concerns or inaccuaracies people may have had about him. I am not Shane, nor am I a member of his family, etc. I can tell you that until he applied for the job, my interest in Wyoming was strictly related to the athletic program. Since him taking over, I am now rooting for the overall success of the university.

Clearly I'm not going to discuss who I am, my relationship, or why the interest, on a message board. Maybe over a cold one during a tailgate at the War. ha Shane was born and raised in Wyoming and has crossed paths with a lot of people from the state in his lifetime. I do know him personally and can vouch for the person and leader he is. I'm plugged in enough, but have 0 influence on anything, I can tell you that.
