yes, this mostly speaks to how actually BAD the MWC is. Even if they don't make the title game they had a tremendous season and had the fewest number of returning players in the league. You can really win in this league by just keeping your team focused and playing hard. It almost doesn't matter who is on the team. For what we are paying coaches and administrators, there is no excuse to not be winning.

This negates about every external factors argument. You can't convince me that Albuquerque has a major advantage over Laramie.
75 new players on the roster. Coaching and recruiting matter.

If somebody says coaching doesn't matter and everything is pre determined by geography and population base... That person is an idiot. If somebody says that the only thing that determines outcomes in college sports is the ability of the coaches... That person is just as big of an idiot.
Whatever "external factors" that UNM faces.... That have overcome. Kudos. I feel the same about Sawful as I did before. He's not good. I don't think he'd be good at Boise State either.

UNM has no advantage over WYO other than people.
They seem to have a far better coach

Yep, with the right people, external factors are nothing more than an excuse machine for MWC teams with respect to MWC championships.

It's just a factor that you don't have control over. People are welcome to use them as excuses or not. Either way... They exist. No matter what "external factors" are at play, you always need "the right people".
It's manifestly obvious that Wyoming does not have "the right people". I have no confidence that is changing any time soon.

Albuquerque has one of the highest violent crime rates in the country. Very few quality coaching candidates would ever consider going there, no matter how much it paid.
Sawvel took a program that hadn't had a losing season since 2015 and drove it right into the cellar.
What's really disgusting is listening to Cody Tucker make excuses for the guy. I realize the local media doesn't want to lose access to the coaches, but it just doesn't work when other schools continue to pass us by with no better resources than we have.
