New Mexico

It’s bad, but has been pretty good. Cold, snow, bad roads, 8:00, no students.
I get it but I doubt successful programs have this type of attendance regardless. This is probably less than a lot of d2.

I also get that bball has struggled. Hopefully the turning point is now. This is fun game. The boys need 10k to play in front of.

Eh, there’s probably 1,500 - 2,000 actual ppl here. More than most wcc teams

This is why I don't bet on college basketball. We went from a 14 point lead at half to end up not covering the 7 point spread. The ball handling isn't good enough. The free throw shooting is sub standard. And there isn't a single player who can create enough space to get an open look consistently. The defense is good and the effort is very good.

The guys have clearly bought into the mentality that Sunny is preaching. They are trying, but sometimes the talent gap is just too wide to overcome. The real test will be seeing if the guys stay locked in even when the results aren't what they were hoping. That is hard to do and would be a real testament to Sunny if he can keep them playing their asses off even as conference losses mount.

There are some pretty glaring needs for next year:
1) At least two more good ball handlers. Obi will be gone next year and we cannot rely solely on Wills to handle the ball under pressure.
2) A post-player that can be a consistent offensive threat. We don't have to find an Ike level player, but Tainamo and Henry are not cutting it. If Sunny wants to play "90's style basketball", you need a big guy who can consistently score with his back to the basket.
3) At least one player who can create offense off the dribble. Right now, we only have one player who can do that (Obi), and he won't be back next year.

That's asking for a lot, but that is really the minimum it will take before we can even think of challenging for a conference title. It will be a tall task for Sunny, especially in today's game where you can't count on having a guy for any longer than one year.

Saw the score at halftime thought I'd give it a listen, horrible meltdown...ugh
Yes and no. New Mexico shot the ball horribly in the first half. We took advantage of that. In the second half, they started to make some shots and we were forced into a lot of half court sets where we struggled to find open shots. That's always going to be the challenge for this team. We are not that hard to guard when it's 5 on 5.
