New Mexico @ Wyoming

I really hope there is a big crowd at the AA this weekend for the game. Not only is this our first conference game but also a big game in general with New Mexico getting top 25 votes. The student section was better monday but can be much better. The pokes are playing well and we need to show up to support.

We will do our part here by being there, but we are preaching to the church choir here. I hope the UW Athletic Dept. is doing their job in getting fans out by hyping and advertising this game. Looks like the weather is going to be good for the traveling fans.

Sadly it won't be near what this team deserves. Best case scenario is probably half full.
Have classes started yet?

Ya classes are back in. The student section did look bigger than usual for monday nights game. I know the stampede along with a couple of players were in the union today trying to create buzz for the game. They are also giving out tshirts to the first 500 students and pizza. Hopefully it helps. Weather looks good so that shouldn't be a factor.

Hey everyone, hope to have a great time up there. I am leaving tomorrow evening and the weather looks awesome. What's the BEST pre game bar or place everyone goes to before game time. So to the game, i think Wyoming is going to give us all we can handle but i think the lobos will pull it off. The players have Really be focusing on the revenge factor from last year. I am so excited to go out there, never been to Wyoming anything to do fun or should i just go back and stay in Denver?

Glad you are coming up for the game. As far as pre game spots I would hit up Lovejoys which is downtown or the library which is almost on campus on grand avenue. It is closer to the arena. I tend to disagree with you in regards to the game. Revenge is not a good fuel to beat someone. Also last year we beat you guys with a team that was not very good at all. We had not discipline. I think the conference is about to see how good we are this year. As far as fun things to do after the game there isn't much unless you are a broncos fan and want to go somewhere to watch the game. Money wise you are probably better off to head back down to denver for cheaper hotels.

Hang on to you hats though - it's going to be windy. Watch out for the trucks (semis) on the interstate though, some of them don't know how to drive in this country. Outside of skiing & snowmobiling, there is not much going on in Wyoming right now.

Laramie is definately much more fun in the summer than winter. Also, since we are talking about college basketball here I assume that fans are also the type of people who are not opposed to learning something new and unrelated to sports.

That said, given the early afternoon gametime, I would suggest that you check out either the Territorial Prison (if it is still open and operating) or go take a look around the rocks up at Vedauwoo between Cheyenne & Laramie. It is probably too cold and snowy to climb them much, especially with high winds, but they are an amazing geological formation that a person does not see everyday. Either of those two options would fit will into a late morning and give you a choice between scientific and sociological activities.

I liked Lovejoy's when I was in Laramie. Once upon a time, both the Buckhorn and the Alibi were popular bars that drew an interesting mix of people. I do not know were the destinations in Laramie are now.

Damn I wish we had Afam healthy-ish. We essentially went six deep against New Mexico, with Nance (a big man) getting our only significant minutes off the bench and I'd say that it's a fair assumption that this trend will continue during conference play. Even assuming Gilmore gets some minutes he will likely spell Luster only because we just can't play Gilmore and Luster together. We really, really need a swingman off the bench to give Pako and Luke breathers or we're going to fade down the stretch just like we did in this game. Having Afam healthy enough to even go 10-15 minutes off the bench would be so helpful. God damn Heath Schroyer for screwing this up.
