Same type of situation in this game. The lobos are very hungry for a win. If we come out flat like we did against Colorado and lose this game, I am officially off the christensen train.

Come on Popcorn, you are exactly the reason that we can't keep a good coach around. The guy has 5 games under his belt, 3 of which he's won, and one loss to the #2 team in the nation, and you're ready to throw him under the bus! Glenn had 6 years to prove that he couldn't put together an entire team or an entire season of football!
Now, don't get me wrong, I expect the team to win this game, and I'm hopeful that we'll actually see a blowout. But since we have a tendency to play to the level of our competition, especially lately, I'm sure we'll be biting our nails through our gloves at the end. But if we manage to beat ourselves, which is the only way we lose this game I think, I won't be jumping off the "Christensen train." I think he's got the team on the right track and will have UW football back to where we all hoped it would be in a few years.
And by the way, I don't care if every game is a shootout. IMO, that's much more fun to watch as long as the defense can step up and make the big plays when necessary,and we're able to win those games. I do think you're wrong though, and as Christensen is able to upgrade the talent on both sides of the ball (especially the D-line and D-backs on that side), we'll see an improved defense.

That Colorado loss was, imo, one of the worst possible losses this program could possibly face. Getting shutout against a team that looked completely lost in its first couple games. It pretty much saved Hawkins job, and killed our recruiting battle against CU for Colorado players. It hurt very bad. I knew it was bad timing to face them though. Coming off our hyped game vs. Texas and them needing a win to save the head coach's job. Not to mention a regional matchup.. etc.. Now, I am still on the Joe Glenn bandwagon. I truly believe he is a great great coach. He just couldn't adjust his recruiting at the D1 level. I believe if he was at Nebraska, he would bring them back to National Title Contention. I'll be patient with Christensen, but having watched Missouri play the past few years, I don't want to see the same type of team. Which is a good offense, but no killer instinct. Also, I prefer defensive battles over shootouts because I believe in ball control and defense. I believe it is a better brand of football, but thats just my preference.

I'm not against Glenn either. He was and is a great guy and an amazing ambassador for the program. But I don't think he could have won at Nebraska either. If he's a "great, great coach," why couldn't he adjust his recruiting? Glenn's biggest fault was his loyalty. His staff just wasn't able to recruit at a D1 level, or coach up the guys they brought in. An dhe wasn't willing to make the necessary changes.
But Glenn isn't here anymore, and Christensen has got this program on the right track, at least from my perspective. Hell, we scored 60 points in two games! That's nearly half of what we scored last year under Glenn! I agree that the CU game was a big setback, and it really sucked to watch it in person. But I'm willing to give the coach some slack, especially since he seems to have used the loss to motivate the team and really get the offense clicking. I don't think it's hurt our recruiting that badly, especially since Christensen isn't only recruiting Colorado like Glenn pretty much did. Right now, I'd imagine that Christensen's pitch to any kid goes something like this, and it seems to be working: "Look kid, here's the deal, I'm building a program at Wyoming, and we need a lot of help. I can pretty much guarantee that you'll play a ton as a true freshman. Any other school's gonna make you wait at least two years to play. Take it or leave it."
I do agree with Snowman, and I want it both ways as well. Dominant offense that can score 40, and dominant defense that holds down the opponent. I don't mind a run first, ball control offense, but right now, we ain't got the horses for the kind of game. And Snowman's right, you've got to be able to score points in this league to win, and Christensen's getting that done. You can't blame him for Mizzou's defense, since I'd imagine he has little to do with that side of the ball. English seems to have a pretty good head on his shoulders, and as long as they can continue to upgrade talent and coach 'em up, our D will be fine.

While locksley is the exception right now; I doubt San Diego st. is ready to give up on Hoke. Same goes with Lane Kiffin at Tenn. Let's give DC a couple years and then we can see where this program was compared with Glenn's. In my eyes, we are night and day better and I can tell you this for a fact. Glenn's practices were some of the most lax I have ever seen in D1. None of the players making mistakes in practice were held accountable and we could see this translate to games with all our turnovers and mistakes. At least with CDC's practices, players are held accountable and practice is run with the kind of intensity a D1 program requires.

Popcorn 5 games man u gotta be kidding me but i think DC is doing a great job and starting to get some athletes it is a long process and yes the CU game was a bad one but that is in the past lets move forward
I saw more well orchestrated, quality drives in just the UNLV game this year than I saw in the ENTIRE SEASON last year. I think CDC and some of his Freshman recruits are going to learn and improve with each and every game this year. Next year I envision us battling for the 4th spot (or better)in the MWC with the likelihood of upsetting one of the big 3 of the conference. I'm officially onboard the CDC bandwagon.
Joe Glenn was not, and is not, a great coach. No way. He is a heck of a nice guy but wow! lol
As for New Mexico, I agree that they are dangerous. I watched the Texas Tech game and it was night and day different from the Lobos previous three games, which bordered on inept. They looked good in Lubbock and played very well against TT. Very few teams accomplish that. If Locksley's system is starting to click and last week's performance carries over to this Saturday, it could be a real battle.

We played the #2 in the country the week before Colorado and we played a 0-3 team last week .
We are at home against N. Mexico and we were on the road at CU .
I will add that CU is 20 times better than N. Mexico as well.
I would agree though , that if Wyoming loses this game at home to this N. Mexico team then the coaches didn't have the players ready . This would be a far worse loss. With all that said Wyoming will win rather easily .

This is a big game for us. We need to take care of a struggling UNM team while we can. They have handed it to us for several years. It is pathetic that they have won at the war the last 4 times. Of course that can be said for most MWC teams. Three in a row would be a great step forward and 2-0 in MWC is a great start. Let's face it. Our schedule is about to get VERY tough after this game (not including SDSU). We need to get the W in the winnable ones, like last week. I don't think it will be a blow out, we haven't shown we can blow out anyone yet. I just want a win, that is all that matters.. GO POKES!!!

Let's see, Glenn couldn't win with these players, yet you expect Christensen to come in and turn things completely around in five games? The fact that true freshman are helping this team in a large way is telling. If things haven't improved dramatically in 2 years and five games, then maybe you can throw DC under the bus. You have to give him some time to recruit his players and correct some of the problems this team currently has. Until then, you might want to let go of the man crush you have on Glenn and acknowledge the improvements this team has made. Afterall, with this year's schedule, no one really expected the Pokes to win more than 4-5 games this year anyway.

Another issue, is UNM just had a big emotional game with Texas Tech. Who'se to say that they don't come into Laramie a little flat just like we did against CU.

Add in the fact that ASUNM (Student governement group at NM) just announced (yesterday I believe) they "want" the coach suspended. Not that it means much, but there are more dark clouds forming over top of the Lobos. Locksley LOL. What a douche.
If the pokes jump out to a 2 or 3 score lead, the NM team will rapidly deflate.
