New Mexico Bowl confirmed

Senior football banquet was held in the Union Ballroom today. Spoke with multiple people in the program today. New Mexico Bowl it is.... gotta say I'm not very excited. We need a later bowl with a premier matchup against a BCS conference opponent.
 
I agree to an extent. I am excited because we are in a bowl game and earned one....but I sure would rather face someone better than Western Michigan per what ESPN has us booked at. I thought I saw somewhere that UCLA got a waiver from the NCAA to play in a bowl game even though they went 6-7...maybe we play UCLA in the New Mexico Bowl?!
 
And I have heard that IF TCU or BSU go to a BCS game then its the Poinsetta Bowl. Just heard that an hour or so again.

Hummm...I wonder why the conflicting stories. Well, I honestly think that if TCU or BSU to to a BCS game, then we go to San Diego.
 
I think I would rather play in the New Mexico Bowl against UCLA than play in the Poinsetta Bowl vs Louisiana Tech....however, I would rather play in San Diego vs Louisiana Tech than I would Western Michigan in the New Mexico Bowl
 
Wyoming is going to be playing Temple in the New Mexico bowl. Already have Temple talking smack saying they don't want to play us and that they will beat us by 50 haha. Funny stuff.
 
Wyoming vs. Temple.... who's excited? ESPN will be talking about it for days!

Sigh... don't get me wrong I'm happy we are in a bowl but damn, I wanted us to get some exposure out of it.

+1 Rather play a mid-level BCS school than a bullshit MAC team team we'll beat by the 3rd qtr.

BTW, we have played Temple before. In Roach's last year, we played them in Laramie. They were a replacement for Kansas State who dropped us so they could dumb down their skeds. Wyoming won, of course, 38-23. It was also, the season opener in 1990.
 
I feel the same way, I really would rather have a UCLA than a Temple, Michigan State etc....sucky. I am glad we are in a bowl game though.

EDIT: I would love Michigan State haha...what I meant was Western Michigan.
 
I'm still holding out hope that our situation changes when they announce the BCS bowls and TCU/Boise State is hopefully in!
 
As I said on my Twitter account, Temple is in PA but people in PA don't know where the Hell Temple is. I know this as I use to live there.

You think ESPN would talk that much more about us playing some random mediocre ACC team? Give me a break people and quit bitching. You think any opponent gets excited about playing Wyoming?

Going to a bowl is about celebrating a 8-4 season.
 
Pokes vs Temple.. it's on. I hope we can win it. They're a run first offense, which means we should probably figure out how to stop the run.
 
Players on Twitter seem to be excited about going to the NM Bowl..

Kinda funny, the punter from Ohio ranted on Twitter about having to go to Idaho to play.. haha
 
Hope playing Temple doesn't prevent Wyoming fans from coming to the game and buying tickets.
 
Okay seriously...I am excited about a bowl game...not about playing Temple. Hopefully this is just a rumor. I hate playing other non-aq teams in bowl games....

We're the largest University in the largest city in the state. We're the second largest University in Pennsylvania behind Penn State. We have nearly 10K more students than Pitt. With all of that in mind, no one has heard of us, and no one knows where we're located. Makes a lot of sense. You must've lived in Pennsyltucky.
