Did we get another commit, or did Conway just get to town?

Shyatt did comment in a recent interview that they would like a "stretch" 4 and Dalton would fit that profile (hit over 40% from 3 at CWC and took about 1/3 of his attempts from beyond the arc). However, wonder how Shyatt will feel when we are getting humiliated on the glass this year? We really needed someone to help on the glass and in defending the paint. That doesn't appear to be Dalton.

As jvk said, he'll be a sophomore coming in. 6'7" 200 lb. forward. Started 27 of CWC's 28 games this year.
41.7% from downtown
48.6% from the field

Couldn't find much about him on the recruiting sites.

40% from 3 and 80% from the line are definitely nice to see. He'll have to gain 20+ pounds before he is really useful.

Uhhh. This is not moving the needle for me. Should have held out for next year with the absolutely loaded class.

I would have liked to get Alonzo Walker but that is a no go now.

Who knows though, maybe this kid Dalton will turn out to be good with this coaching staff coaching him up. I did watch some highlights of him from high school and he does look like he has a good 3 point stroke. Almost seems like we will have to be a lot more like Boise St. next year with all of the shooters we have on the team and not a lot of experienced big men down low.

Yeah, this one came out of left field, but he looks like he can shoot the ball. A much better free throw shooter than what we've been seeing at certain positions lately. In Lacock's article, Dalton says he rebounds "really well". We'll find out soon enough if this kid has what it takes at the D1 level to stretch the defense and take a little pressure off Barnes & Co. inside.

Josh pushed the staff, so we'll see how this turns out. I'll see if I can dig up more info/insight on the kid when I'm in Laramie.

Damn Seattlecowboy was getting me excited about the prospect of Alonzo Walker being a Poke...oh well. Let's hope this kid can battle as hard as his friend Josh Adams! He's got some height and if he can help mix it up on the boards that'll be a much needed bonus. Looking like we're going to be a small ball team for sure next year. You guys think we're gonna start to go for that old Shyatt year 1 runnin n gunnin em style of play in Laramie? That could be fun to watch. The gold will be shining on Shyatt's Cowboys no matter what for a few years for me regardless. That tourney appearance last year buys Shy and staff a lot of time from me before I start to complain...too much

Next year promises to be an awfully good time - when was the last time we had 2 guys that could drive? and to think we'll have 3 or 4 that will see court time, with at least two on the court at once...We should be able to drive the lane, stop on a dime for mid-range shots and hopefully shoot the 3 ball as a team like we've not seen, ever, and at high speed. Our perimeter guys should make it a lot easier for our bigs. I know good offense starts with good defense, and we'll have some growing pains there, but shit0dear when we learn to play good team D every play, game in and out...wish my crystal ball told me the big dance waits for us next March, but it's cloudy as hell. Regardless I'm on board for the ride - watching this team mature should be really fun.

Right on nwpoke. It is easy to complain when we get someone that hasn't been on the radar. He is tall, can shoot, can jump, is long, was his teams top rebounder, etc. Just because he isn't what many were expecting, doesn't make him a bad player.

Next year will be fun and interesting. We now have a full range of players with different skills and talents. We will be young, but I like the youth movement.

Someone get this kid a steak sandwhich and a steak sandwhich, and put it on Mr. Underhills tab.

I think its more likely we'll see JJ getting floor time at PF. You might see a lot of zone as well.

I'm thinking by tourney time were looking at the following starting five:

Austin Conwizzle
Josh Adams
Jason Mcmanamen
JJ
Alan Herndon

I'm perfectly okay with the guys on our roster getting the minutes. Were in year one of a new cycle of young basketball players.

I like this guy. People trashed Grabau and Cooke the whole time they were here and they were key guys in our championship run. Cooke shot 50 percent from the line his entire stay. He didn't miss a throw in the title game. Hayden makes free throws.

Grabau got crapped on the entire time he was here and he probably won us a dozen games with his free throw shooting.

Hayden will be a good addition if he works hard.

He's smart. You can coach smart.

Well, maybe if everyone turns out to be a damn good shooter. There won't be a dominant rebounder, or much of any, as I can see. Shyatt loses or at best breaks even, on this one.

Dayton just missed the Sweet 16 this year with no player over 6'7. The shooting will be there and Barnes can be the defensive force.

“He has two attributes you can’t teach: He can really shoot the ball, and he’s got really good bounce,” Shyatt added. “More importantly, he fits our program. He’s an excellent student. He comes from a family with high values and he’s got tomorrow written all over him.”

“It’s crazy how much I’ve grown, and I think my athleticism helps me a lot,” Dalton said. “I can shoot, dribble and drive to the basket pretty well for a big guy. I think I’m a pretty good leader, as well.”

“I listened to several of our players (Wednesday) after they got done playing with him, and they felt like this guy could really help us down the road,” Shyatt said. “I trust our players. We would not have taken a player if we didn’t think he was a perfect fit.”
