new blog

hi everyone! I just wanted to let you guys know about a blog I'll be writing during the football season called West Coast Bias college football blog. The basis is to cover all D1 teams in the western states, so all PAC 12 teams all Mountain West teams and some of the remaining WAC teams. In a couple weeks I'll be releasing my pre-season All-WCB teams which will highlight the best players in the west. I'll be watching most of the games and reading all the articles so that I can do write ups about each teams games. Come on by and join in the discussions, thanks http://wp.me/p2zdIp-d

Not trying to sound like a biased Wyoming fan but if you are going to truely be reporting on the western states players and teams, do some research about Brett Smith. And watch him this fall. This kid, is legit. He has a very good chance to be a 1st team MWC QB, if not MWC player of the year.

Hard to say all that without sounding a tad homerish. ;) The Sophomore year is always the big one. The validation year....do it again, and people will believe. Smith was shockingly good in 2011, but he showed some signs of things he needs to work on too. Medium-to-Long range passing. Field vision. Staying in the pocket instead of getting happy feet. Of course, not getting hurt is crucial to any QBs success. It would be in Brett's best interest to not lead the team in rushing again. Even Cam Newton finished last season with the Panthers beaten up after running so much. The more you run, the higher the chances of getting injured.

Good luck with your blog westcoastbiascfb....Should be fun watching your Utes in year #2 in the Pac-12.

ACS wasn't as good as Smith. With that said, ACS is an example of a player teams adjusted too. That's the challenge Brett faces. He runs a lot (led team in rushing, WTF) and struggles 25+ yards beyond. That is something defenses adjust to after seeing you once. He'll have to overcome that like all Sophomore QBs do.

Hopefully the O-Line plays better this fall than they did in the spring. That of course could become a big issue. Lots of freakin' questions....
