NEVER FORGET (2016 @ UNM)

Last time we went to New Mexico they hung 56 points and 690 total yards of offense on us in one of the most embarrassing performances in Cowboy Football history.

Total debacle. NM had 262 yards rushing, 0 yards passing, and were up 21 - 0 at the end of the first quarter. And it cost the DC Stannard his job, as it should have. I still have nightmares about that damn game.

We learned that we clinched the division only hours before kickoff then proceeded to get mauled like I've never seen. Was a real stinker of a night.

edit: We got mauled just as bad on defense only two weeks earlier by UNLV

It's a new day with Hazelton as DC. Different Lobos team too.

This season is 2005, but backwards.

We still need to move the ball offensively. Hopefully our backs are relatively healthy and good to go for this game, because TVW will need help. Air Force did not expect to see him at all, but NM will have a week to prepare.

Hopefully Vigen will NOT go back to running on every first down and a mix of runs and 3 yard passes to the sideline on second down... 3 yard passes to our TEs over the middle? Sure - they do break tackles occasionally.

I'm glad it is being pointed out that the 2016 Lobos are not the same as the 2018 Lobos. The 2018 Lobos offense is VERY DIFFERENT from the 2016 version. For starters, Magee became the offensive coordinator this year. Magee is a long time understudy of Rich Rodriguez and has incorporated a whole bunch of spread looks. While UNM still runs 'option' plays; the overall offense isn't really that comparable to 2016. In 2016, UNM averaged a rather incredible 350 rushing yards per game and a mere 100 yards passing per game. In 2018, UNM is averaging a pedestrian 160 rushing yards per game 190 passing yards per game.

Comparing the Air Force option attack to the UNM option attack is apples to oranges. Completely different schemes.

Sure. But they still beat the living fuck out of us in the NM home finale in 2016. I was there, and I am still pissed off about it.

;)

I wasn't there and am still pissed off about it. I'll never forget the dirty shots that Allen was taking and yelling at the TV for the coaches to get Allen out of the game as it had long since been decided.

Any word on whether Nico will play Saturday?
