Nebraska Scrimmage

Basically, Shyatt wants guys who are familiar with the system and have experience to start over guys who just got here, and then work the newer guys in more and more as they get used to the system while actually playing against other teams.

I don't know why its a surprise to anyone. Shys system is built on certain foundations:

1. Limit the other teams offensive opportunities.
2. Make the opposing offense work hard every possession without giving away easy buckets.

It doesn't matter how talented the newcomes are, they all do the same thing. They turn the ball over and need some work to learn the defensive commitment necessary to make our system work.

Those things are two of the most difficult aspects of the game for any newcomer to college basketball. The veterans get that and have had years to work on ball security and defensive intensity.

I saw Justin James walking around campus about a week ago, and he had a noticeable limp. I think the ankle is pretty bad, and if he tweaked it again, it might mean a little more significant time off will be needed.

Hopefully he doesn't fall so far behind in his conditioning and system knowledge that he has to redshirt, like Washington did last year...

I am not going to be shocked if he redshirts. I have seen him 3 times in person since he arrived and each time he was limping, noticeably.
