NDSU wins big, but hit hard with injuries.

NDSU defeated Central Connecticut by a score of 50-14. The rout was overshadowed by several injuries to starting players. From an injury perspective, this is one of the worse Bison games I have ever seen. Here is a link with the rundown of the injury situation for NDSU.

That'll make NDSU pretty one dimensional if Roehl can't go next week.

Not at all. If Roehl misses the game (that's a big IF), we have plenty of backups that can step-up with no noticable let down. Roehl has 174 rushing yards for the year, Paschall has 126, Voitlander 107, and a new kid McNorton that is electric anytime he touches the ball. Not let down here. Our injuries, with the exception of two, are minor. We are deep enough in every postion to be able to go two deep without much of a let down. We'll be ready to play on Saturday, you can be sure of that.

I don't know if we will have any offense, but you will see one of the best run defenses in the country this coming weekend. Should be interesting.

Looking at the "almosts" that Eastern Washington had at Colorado and Sacramento State at CSU, I give the Bison a prety good chance of pulling one off in Laramie, giving Joe Glenn plently of time to get his house up for sale.

Eastern is good.. real good, so it's no surprise they kept pace w/ Colorado.. especially after Montana State beat CU two years ago. Sac. St almost taking down CSU was kind of odd considering Sac hasn't had a good football team since they entered the Big Sky Conf. 14 years ago. I think we'll be fine vs. NDSU, they're real good, but remember, Wyoming's worst team beat Furman in 2001, who went on to play in the 1-AA national championship that year.

Our injuries won't be that big of a factor. Even if Roehl misses the game, (which is highly unlikely) we have three other backs that can step up without much of a let down. Roehl has 174 yards rushing for the season, Paschall; 126, Voigtlander; 107, and we all know McNorton is always a threat whenever he gets the ball. There will be no let down in the RB department. Lemon will be back, and his backup (Purcell) is more than capable of stepping up with no noticable let down.

Wyomings offense is downright terrible and our defense is awesome. They are a one dimensional offense. They have proven in the first two games they cannot throw the ball. Stop their run and the game is over. I don't see Wyoming moving the ball against us with any type of consistensy.

Wyomings defense in their strong suit. But they don't have the personal to cover our entire offense. If (and thats a big IF) they stop our ground game, they won't be able to contain our pass attack.

All in all, I think it will a long day for Wyoming. This game isn't going to be as close as some on this board think. I see more of a Central Mich. type game. We have too many weapons on offense, and our defense is just to solid for the Cowboys to be effective.

I predicted a big win in the preseason but with all these injuries I'm not so sure. I think that if Roehl can't go or is not able to perform at something close to 100% we will see a let down. I'm not saying we can't win without him, but generally the punishment he inflicts on defenders wears on them by the end of the game. The rest of the backs while very solid do not provide this element. I still think though that we will pull this one out, BISON 31 COWBOYS 28

It is hard to predict what will happen this weekend - either UW will fall flat on it's face or they will get madder than hell and really take it out on NDSU. I'm not sure I would want to be NDSU this weekend.

I think the loss of Roehl will really impact us. There will be no blowout by the Bison.....I will just be happy with a win. On the other hand....it will be great experience for NDSU to face the formidable run defense of the Cowboys. Our conference season will be long and difficult and that experience in a game in invaluble.

With all do respect to my fellow Bison fan Littleguy, losing Roehl is a big loss, as in major loss. He makes tacklers pay for trying to tackle him and that is why he is so dangerous. He has a high ankle sprain and even though Littleguy thinks that is no big deal I can assure you it is. If you have ever had one, and I have, it is a major deal. Roehl is more important to us for conference play than this game and I think he should rest the ankle. Not having him, plus all of the other nicks, will cost the Bison in this game I am afraid.

I predict a game too close to call. I think our coach won't play as many players as he says he will despite saying he will play two deep. That is completely against his character. He played a lot of players right away in our first game, but kept starters in way too long in our second game despite having a 27-0 first qtr lead and an insurmountable halftime lead. Bad deal and bad decisions on his part (as you can probably tell, I am not a home like Littleguy despite being a fan for longer than he has been alive). So, here is what I think will happen:

Close game first half, both teams in a defensive struggle. One team, either one, will have a field goal lead.

The WY D proves to be too much for our O. Our OL is depleted, LT hurt, C questionable, nonetheless NDSU will struggle to run the ball and will be largely ineffective. Short passes will work for a while but the DL of WY will put too much pressure on Mertens to be successful with anything mid-range or longer, so eventually the passing attack will suffer because Breske will make adjustments to the short passing game. By 4th qtr Bison will be moving the ball very little.

WY O starts to click against a very tired Bison D late in the 3rd quarter and will eventually score the necessary points to win, despite their mediocrity/ineptness, but it will be close. If our OL plays better than I expect it will (NDSU is inexperienced there, talented, but inexperienced), we could have enough of a lead to hang on, but I doubt it.

Go Bison! See you at the game!!

If the thin air at War Memorial doesn't get NDSU, the all-bean breakfast the Pokes will be fed at breakfast may (that could be Cole's main stategy play for the game, since nothing else seems to work)
