Forgive me in advance if this covers a lot of different topics
Longtime Bison fan who recently moved to the front range. I will start by saying Congrats to Wyo on getting a great coach! 3 things you will see right away he will bring is discipline, toughness, and his ability to recruit! I get tired of the people that say NDSU hides in DII, well it takes quite a bit to move up to FBS football. Also, I had to spend a great deal of time dealing with stupid ignorant "sheep" fans down here trying to explain to them that just cause it says FCS, doesn't mean these teams don't know how to play football! Those "sheep" fans have nothing to speak to me about any more. And that's what I want Wyo fans to have happen for them! SHUT THESE SHEEP FANS UP!!
Coach Bohl has built a winning program with winning recruits. And in his press conference he said it. Wyoming kids and Colorado kids have to be the backbone of your team. Don't let these kids get away! Bohl will visit every high school in the state and do it often! Look at NDSU roster, the names from ND, Minn, and SD. They are key core guys. NOT 3 and 4 star guys (cause 5 star guys don't go to FCS) that are being chased by everyone under the sun.
For those that watch the game, here's a quick overview of what Bohl will bring to Wyo as far as recruits. RB #23, out of MN, was a Big 10 recruited RB, all wanted him to walk on cause of academic issues. NDSU and Bohl committed to him and used his RS and FR year to get him elligble, SO and JR year now two 1,000 yard seasons. WR #4, 4th all time NDSU receptions list, converted all state running back from ND, fast as hell. FB #40, 2 time ND state wrestling champion won 88 straight matches, can count on 1 hand how many carries he has, has 1 td. But has BLOWN up countless LB while opening holes for 3 years of two different 1,000 yard rushers. WR #82, Mr. Football from MN, Gophers didn't think he had size to play WR there. Oops. LT #77 Billy Turner, MN, one of top OT in FCS and is 19th OT rated on several Draft Scouting rankings lists. NG #60, a top DT in FCS and probably is the best run stuffing DT in FCS, from small town ND. LB #52 from ND, Title game #1 game MVP, is tough as nails! Fast and is never out of position. Dislocated shoulder vs K State, went to sideline and popped it back into place, played a few playes later, and also played the next few weeks with brace. CB #1 from MN, Faster then hell! 21 career INT's, NDSU record, and FCS record 7 of them returned for TD's. Gophers said he was to small and too slow for FBS football. Oops.
And to answer the question of getting drug 12 yards while others tried to strip ball, no that doesn't happen. If the tackler doesn't pop the ball out on the initial hit, that runner is done and goes down. Don't miss tackles and if the first guy stands them up, the second guy is usually so close that he just helps finish him off.
