Even though we are now a Top 100 RPI team (99th), my bet is that our schedule until now will actually drag the conference down as our opponents start playing within their own conferences.
Nah, the largest component of the RPI is Opponent's winning percentage (50% of RPI, compared to 25% for your own AWP and Opponents Opponents winning percentage). Therefore, the most important factor for our conference opponents is our winning percentage, not our schedule.
To maximize the RPI, each team should play the toughest schedule in which they can achieve a really high winning percentage. In our case, that's probably not a real tough schedule. Nothing wrong with that. It needs to get stronger in future years for our own purposes, but our current status is helping the league.
