All of that said, I think the whole league would be stronger if we could improve our (UW's) out of conference schedule. Even though we are now a Top 100 RPI team (99th), my bet is that our schedule until now will actually drag the conference down as our opponents start playing within their own conferences.

Nah, the largest component of the RPI is Opponent's winning percentage (50% of RPI, compared to 25% for your own AWP and Opponents Opponents winning percentage). Therefore, the most important factor for our conference opponents is our winning percentage, not our schedule.

To maximize the RPI, each team should play the toughest schedule in which they can achieve a really high winning percentage. In our case, that's probably not a real tough schedule. Nothing wrong with that. It needs to get stronger in future years for our own purposes, but our current status is helping the league.

I gotta say for being a walk on Watsabaugh is a good player. His hustle and determination so far is probably the best on the team regardless what numbers say. This guy who wrote this article is some jacka$$ in NY who has no clue about the MWC let alone wyoming. He went to Western Connecticut State. How can you even have a western in such a small state. Must suck to suck.

I like what Shyatt has done with the team. I know he's a defense kind of guy, but I think he's playing even more defense than he would like because he knows the skill set just isn't there. If he a little more fire power, I think you'd see him open it up a little more.

You can teach good defense because some of the best athletes don't focus on defense, so when you can't match their athletes, you can stay in the game. Defense in basketball doesn't get nearly enough respect as it does in football. If you're offense isn't great, you can still make the tourney with defense.
