NCAA PRINCIPLES AND PROCEDURES FOR ESTABLISHING THE BRACKET

That is an interesting read. It shows the value of a regular season title, even if it's shared, for a team like Wyoming. It automatically inserts them into the conversation for an at-large bid instead of hoping that a number of committee members believe that they're worthy of consideration. You'd have to think that a MWC team with 26 or 27 wins would be "worthy of consideration," but you never know if the SOS makes Wyoming a non-starter.

Maybe Calpoke should read this instead of telling everyone there is zero chance unless we win tournament for the 100th time

+1

The post I made was referring to this, then he told me THERE IS NO CHANCE, for the 1000th time just like Wyokie posting about how he hates BYU.

All this means is that we would be guaranteed to be "under consideration" if we won the regular season. Ultimately that means jack. There is no formula, just men with opinions, and we all know what most people's opinions are of us right now - not a tourney team.

It's true that we can't say we have ZERO chance, but we have to go under the assumption that we need to win the tourney.

lol. Sure we'll be "in the conversation" just like the Summitt League regular season champ will be "in the conversation." Doesn't change the fact that at-large chances are GONE.

Yeah, I can be blamed for the same thing :D

I still think we have to win the tourney.

The only plausible Plan B in my view is if we win out the regular season and make it to the conf title game and compete with SDSU.

Such BS that CSU is a "lock" in many bracket projections.

You know what's funny? CS-ewe and USU play in Logan the last Saturday in conference play. Should USU win and tie CS-ewe at 12-6 in conference, the sheep would end up as the 5th-seed in the MWC tourney by virtue of the Aggies head-to-head win over the hapless lambs. There's your CS-ewe squad that, right now, is a "fairly secure" bet for the NCAA tourney.

What actually makes this scenario more interesting is that Utah St. AD Scott Barnes is head of the NCAA selection committee so CSU finishing 5th in conference and losing to Utah St. might end up costing the rams a bid. I know everything isn't perfect and they could still take CSU but would look funny taking the #1 team SDSU for instance and then the #5 seeded team.

CSU would basically be leapfrogging 3 other conference teams at that point. So that game might be a little bigger than everyone seems to think it is. I find it interesting.

UW could definitely benefit by a USU win that day. Stew's last game too. USU may light'm up.

Yeah it won't hurt Wyoming by any means. I wasn't really looking at it from it helping Wyoming. I was more so looking at it as CSU might lose a bid because of it. I could see the selection committee taking CSU over one team that finished above them but not over 3 teams. So I think that game is actually bigger for CSU then most people think. Of course CSU will get to play Utah St. the very next week in the conference tourney most likely and they could get the win back by beating them but still they would have finished below 4 other teams in the conference regular season. I don't think CSU is quite as safe yet as everyone seems to think. We will see. MWC might end up being a one bid league if certain games don't go the right way unless someone other than SDSU wins the tourney.

Yeah, I saw it as possibly helping Wyoming because of the simple fact that if CSU enters the mwc tourney as a 5 seed... RPI, SoS aside, that looks like shi. If MWC truly is a 3 team bid, UW may squeak in if we do our part. If CSU and BSU perform well in MWC tourney, could be nail in UW anyway.
