Another reason why the NCAA is shit. Part of me is bummed about the big conferences breaking away eventually, because Wyoming won't be joining them, and therefore will be playing tier two sports (FCS, DII, or whatever you want to call it). But part of me is glad that someone is doing something to hopefully fix or end the NCAA's b.s. regulations and stranglehold they have over students that want to attend a good fit college, while participating in sports.
With all due respect to our international athletes attending Wyoming and other colleges, how the hell can foreigners prance onto US college teams, many on full or partial scholarships, and somehow the NCAA decides a man that served our country and wants to "try" to play college football as a walk-on, has to give up two years and sit out a year? Even with the public pressure they at first only let him have all 4 years. It took more pressure for them to waive the sit-out year. Hell, professional athletes get to stroll onto college teams as long as their new NCAA sport isn't the one they were getting paid to play, with little to no strings attached.
Somewhere along the line the NCAA probably had good intentions, but they are so far off the mark, it's ridiculous.
