NCAA Football recruiting vs. performance differential

Interesting chart comparing the FBS football programs. X-axis shows the rank of the school in recruiting while the Y-axis shows their finish overall. UW falls almost right on the line with just a +2.6 differential meaning we perform slightly better than we recruit.

Pretty depressing chart, actually- we're getting out-recruited and out-performed by everyone from Middle Tennessee State to Boise State- neither of which have been playing D1 for twenty years...

Another interesting thing Wyo-related: Over the length of the survey (I think it was ~5 years), CU and Kansas performed roughly the same on the field as Wyoming, but their average recruiting class was ranked about 50 spots higher. Guess that's the power of the Big 5.

Or, more likely, the deflation of ranks of players who chose to play at Wyoming. Either way, that's a huge discrepancy.
