NCAA changes kickoff rule

Maybe one option should have been to let the kicking team decide whether to kick or let the other team have it at the 20 or 25. For sure you would opt to kick in an onside kick situation. However if the return team has a great returner you might opt to forgo the kick.

I think this might have been a cool idea:

1.) Move kickoffs to the 10 yard line
2.) Keep touchbacks in the end zone. Move the touchback possession line to the 10.
3.) Get rid of the PAT or 2 pt conversion
4.) Get rid of the out of bound penalties on the sideline

Kicking team gets two points if they can kick it out of the back of the endzone (100 yard kick).
Kicking team gets one point if they kick it out of bounds. Receiving team takes possession where the ball went out.
Kicking team gets zero points if the ball is returned.

Soon there won't be anymore "foot" in football. As kicker this of course upsets me.

All for player safety.

Well considering kickoffs have the highest rate of injury incident of any play in football, I would argue it is for safety. They are trying to do something short of completely taking kickoffs away, which IMO is inevitable anyway.
