But, a "friend of a friend" (dont know how reliable it is) said that an announcement was to come today. IF (and that is a big if because I dont know the reliability of the source) says that the head coach will be announced. I have heard its Christensen. JUST RUMORS, but you never know!
 
We'll take anything we can get in the way of information. The Poke fans on this board and everywhere else (me too) are dying for any info. Any of these candidates would probably do ok, but we are paying Burman to find the right man to take this team to compete for the top of the MWC. I think he will name that person soon so he can get his staff on board and the recruiting can get going. I'm tired of the so called big three (the utah schools and TCU) dominating this conference and I want that boot back. They (the big three) think no one else can compete with them.
 
Well, like I said, its an unknown source to me, so I dont know if it is true. But, we will see. He claims that a decision is made, a hire is done, a contract is getting signed. Just a matter of time. He also claims that Burman wants to make the announcement, but Christensen wants to wait until after the regular season is over. So, we will see.

UPDATE: Ok, once again, this is a "rumor" and I have no idea of the accuracy of my info. LOL and the trolls have reported my post on the "other" board. That is funny because when I used to post there, they always bashed me even though I was right more often than when I was wrong. That is funny!
 
I have heard that it will be Monday (just heard that tonight). So, it is what it is and will be when it will be. But my money is on sometime between tonight and monday night
 
I am hoping its Christensen and that he comes in with a list of possible recruits (especially at WR). I am also hoping he doesnt bring any of the defensive coaches from Missouri with him. IMO, it would be good if Christensen retained Breske to allow for some stability in the program.
 
Is there going to be an announcement soon? I think so! Very very soon. I "hear" that a contract is to be signed over the weekend.

Well Christensen isn't my first pick or even in my top 5 candidates but if he is who we hire, then I guess Burman knows things we don't. If he is the best we can get to turn around our program and take us into the future, I'll stand behind him and wish him the best.
 
I am now familiar with all the 4 main possibilities, and I think I have a list, but its tough to really decide what would be best for the program. That said, my list is as follows...
1. Tie - Gary Barnett & Dave Christensen
I think Christensen would be a solid pick because he is a slightly big name, has solid Big 12 experience, and is regarded as one of the top offensive minds in the up and coming ranks. That pretty much fits the bill for where we need to head. Barnett on the other hand, is a big risk/ big reward guy. After really looking at it, there is no way anyone can deny that he is a winner. He has a Big 12 championship, a Big 10 championship, and has seen the big stage and won there. He recruits very well, and obviously knows the area. If we offered him the job, and he actually accepted, barring a disaster like his stint at CU off the field wise, I wouldn't be surprised if this was a top 25 program in 2-3 years. I think without a doubt that is worth the risk with where this program is right now.
2. John L Smith
A little like a poor man's Barnett, and Ill leave it at that.
3. Ted Gilmore
I really don't like this selection. He has roots here, and is apparently one the rise big time in the coaching circle, but I don't think thats what we need. Sounds like a younger Joe Glenn to me.
 
Be prepared for a press conference within the next 48 hours. Christensen tours facilities and meets the Board of Trustee's. Announcement could come Monday. He "probably" wont do any real business until after the bowl game. But, the announcement will come soon.
