Listening to a radio show in the Twin Cities from yesterday. They were interviewing Wolves coach Flip Saunders (who used to work at ESPN). He actually brought up the Nance tweet.

"Don't try to be a comedian [on social media]. Don't try to be smart. Just do what you do" because it could come back to bite ya. Said Nance "is a pretty good player" but it seemed like he wasn't even on our board.

Nance was on all of the teams boards that he worked out for because he impressed so much in those team workouts.

I don't think Minnesota was a team he worked out for was he? That would explain why he probably wasn't high up on their board.
Pretty much. Different teams have different needs. And now that more Laker fans are seeing his videos, they are beginning to agree with drafting him where they did and are getting excited about him.

Yeah and from looking at a bunch of things it seems like Nance likes Kobe a lot and he was making some kind of sarcastic joke with that tweet back when he was a freshman. Think it was more sarcastic than serious so I think once everyone finds out what the context of it was some of the haters will calm down a bit. Obviously not a smart tweet anyways but wasn't meant to be malicious from what I can tell. Just a bad joke while a freshman.

Thing is most all of us say different things at different times joking around about different people and it isn't put out in public but everyone is guilty of it so those Laker fans that want to hold a grudge need to look in the mirror and realize they have all said something about someone before whether serious or joking around and just because they weren't famous no one knew about it or gave a crap.

Think it is really no big deal and will end up being no big deal once they see what kind of kid he is for real and shows them he is a good person and slams a couple home everyone there will love him.

@BaxterHolmes: Kobe on Larry Nance tweet & talking to him about it: “There’s no need. The kid figured it out himself…He sent me a great message yesterday."

@BaxterHolmes: Kobe on Nance Jr. tweet: "He was really nice and apologetic about what happened.” Kobe said he told him, "It’s water under the bridge, man."

Best possible outcome.

Now Larry can play fucking basketball.

And Kobe took it better than a lot of Laker fans did.

Was just about to post this Twitter exchange. So impressed in both Larrys and Kobes handling of this. On to important stuff, like winning basketball games!

When was the last time we had a player get picked in the first round?

Last time was in 1995. Theo Ratliff got picked by the Detroit Pistons with the 18th pick of the draft. The pick was originally Portland's before Detroit used it on Theo.

BTW, last time we had TWO guys go in the draft....

1988...Eric Leckner went to Utah with the 17th pick and Fennis Dembo who went to Detroit with the 30th pick.

Lakers fans are on and off faster than Kanye

Gosh I would hate being in LA for that. as a player, great place to play, but. Fans are like byu in a weird, more liberal way

i can't see why all the attention etc....must be a slow news day, sports wise that is

Probably just diverting attention away from how far off bilas was on his pick - he didn't even have Larry in his top 10 available list.

Here's a great article from an L.A. rag,

A few jabs at Laramie weather, but otherwise a really good interview

James Worthy seems like a total badass. Nice interview. I can't wait to see what happens with Larry. Hell I've been talking him up with my coworkers and some of them are pumped about this. So much fun to get to talk some UW shit now with randoms cause we got a pro player! Can't believe I'm gonna have to start pulling for the Lakers. I'm still sticking with my Dubs over them though when push comes to shove.

Going to be watching Nance in summer league.

His first game is on the 10th which is Friday.

Looks like he may start as the coaches had him running drills with D'angelo Russel, Clarkson , Randle and Brown today in practice.

That summer league team is stacked. Hopefully they go deep into the playoff and get Larry some good playing time.

Does anyone know what options there are to watch the summer league stuff?
