Nance and NBA Draft

Oh yeah and forgot to mention. SUCH A TEAM PLAYER! Damn we're gonna miss Larry this next year. Hope the new guys win me over as fast as this kid did.

Anybody remember about Brett Smith and talk of how high he would go in the NFL draft? A confident Brett plus all the enthusiasm and hype from his supporters - and look what happened. Could this be the fate of Larry? Lets hope not.

Brett left a year early after 3 years under a terrible HC who didn't care about footwork or reading defenses. Nance was the central point of the team, and is what both the offense and defense ran through overall. In other words, apples to oranges.

Mmmmmm I love oranges! Nance led us to a Mountain West Tourney Title that catapulted us into the BIG dance! That was against a MONSTER SDSU RIVAL team too, on the biggest stage it could be. Much bigger feat then Brett ever accomplished I'd say. I'm not gonna start claiming to really follow football, but that last Pokes hoops team made the most noise we've heard in awhile in the major sports. He also went all 4 years through at UW giving the U everything he could on the court. An all timer and I hope our all timers end up in the pros.

Let's not forget that Nance hasn't played basketball for all that long and just now is growing into his body. He has tons of upside.

Totally different dude. Brett left early based on someone telling he would be drafted. Larry doesn't have a choice here. He is eligible for draft and will end up on a roster via draft or sign as a free agent.

The part we're all interested in:

Larry Nance Jr., 6’9” forward, Wyoming: “People say he’s a 'tweener, but he’s not a four. His skill set is for the perimeter. I saw him when he came back from his injury, and he didn’t have the same bounce. He had no confidence. Then I saw him two weeks ago at a workout in Chicago, and it was a different dude. He had no brace, he was jumping, he was punching stuff. Maybe a hair on the soft side, but he has a high basketball IQ. One of the best offensive rebounders in the draft.”

Nance has been playing for a long time, but hasn't been a BIG for that long.

Not NBA Draft, but Larry was drafted by the Globetrotters last night

everything we know, but I like this article.

http://www.nba.com/2015/news/features/chris_dortch/06/23/larry-nance-jr-wyoming-standout-ready-for-his-nba-draft-moment/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I don't think larry falls this far, but again a solid article

this projection is more what Im thinking. but could still go higher, if certain players are taken ahead of nance.

Analysts: Former Wyoming star Larry Nance Jr. could be drafted as high as early-20s

“I think people are viewing him as a complete player,” said Sam Amico, an NBA writer for Fox Sports. “A guy who doesn’t have height for an NBA superstar, but a guy who does everything well enough. I know this for sure, he’s really impressed people in his interviews with his maturity and just his overall personality. They put a lot of stock into those interviews.”

“I’ve heard from the Spurs themselves that they love him.” Amico said. “The fact that they love him and the word’s out about that has probably made a lot more teams interested just because everybody wants to be like the Spurs.”

i'm truly happy and honored that he got drafted by the Globetrotters, but he with no doubt in my mind will make an NBA roster, I'm thinking he'll go late 2nd but even if that doesn't work he's worked too hard and has the pedigree to be a wonderful role player on a hungry young NBA squad, sure hoping Denver!!! we'll see tomorrow night

For the first time in a long time I'll be tuning in to the NBA draft. I'm proud that we have Larry representing Wyoming!

Same here...20 or so years, I haven't given a squat about the NBA draft.

Draft Express updated their mock draft today. They've got Larry going to the Nuggets at #57. After looking over all the mock drafts and reading all the reports I can conclude two things:

1. Larry will be drafted

2. No one has any idea where

The latest mock draft on ESPN has the spurs selecting montrezl harrell from louisville in the first round. Frankly, I think his personality sucks and Rick pitino is quoted as saying the same. If the spurs want an energetic rebounding guy with their first round pick, I see nance as a legit candidate.

I also just saw that Kevin love has opted out of his final year, perhaps the Cavs are looking for some depth at the 3/4 now. Not saying larry is capable of performing on love's level, but their roster just got more thin and larry said he had a great workout with his hometown team so who knows...

Nance just jumped from 56 to 43. These guys are usually pretty plugged in, so that big of a jump on draft eve means they've heard something.
