Naming rights for The War

I've been here since 2002, many of you have been here far longer. Many Universities have struck deals with corporate partners to bring aboard additional revenue in the way of stadium naming rights. Why in your opinion has this never happened in Laramie to date?

Isn't the field? Jonah Field at War Memorial Stadium.

Yes, but that isn't a naming rights situation. Like Maury Brown court at the Arena-Auditorium which is named for a benefactor, Jonah Field is the same thing.

Correct, but that was a one time fee that names the field for perpetuity (I think) which is the wrong way to look at it in my opinion. Need to get annual revenue for a set period to maximize potential. Plenty of monsterous companies (coal/O&G) operating in Wyoming that might happily justify that exposure. Never understood why this hasn't been explored (at least publicly) either. Same with the Building Building...

What are some of the state's biggest companies?

Taco John's Stadium?

Bank Of The West Stadium?

Sierra Trading Post Stadium?

Lowe's Stadium?

Blue Cross/Blue Shield Stadium?

Gerry Spence Stadium? (Kidding)

Taco John's Stadium. Don't care if it sounds funny, if it brings the school $$$ and Taco John's sells food in the stadium, everyone wins.

Or we could implement the KFC YUM! Center approach Louisville had and name it Taco John's FART! Stadium.

Man! That was my favorite place ever. Now I'm craving tacos and the nearest is almost 200 miles away. But also there would be massive line for the restrooms...

Tata chemical Stadium.
The State of Wyoming Stadium (bring in more funds from the state)
FMC stadium
Bridger Stadium

Curious on the Jonah Field, was that just enough to buy the turf at the time or was it more? I remember Burman saying the Mich. State game was to generate enough money to replace the turf. At the time I thought it was odd that naming of the field didn't even generate enough revenue for upkeep of the field.

If that is true, I guess that might be the answer to the question at hand. Nobody is willing to pay much to have our stadium branded with their name. I can say with near certainty it has been explored which means there just isn't much interest by either party for the amount of money involved.

If it had Mr. Spence's name...."Welcome to double crossing screw the little guy while pretending to stick up for them Spence Field" or "Conflict of Interest Field"

I think the naming rights came from a one time donation from the McMurry's if I'm not mistaken. That one time donation got us the first round of fake grass and permanent naming rights. I think. Could be wrong on that.
