I think at this point, people are watching just to support the team. There is a chance Wyoming doesn't even get out of the pigtail game, let alone make a run. I know there is a chance that the Pokes could make a run, but there is also a much higher chance they get curb-stomped. All anyone can do is support the team, hope for the best, and hope they put together a good CBI/CIT run. The MWC is just too damn loaded in basketball this year.

Avoid the teams that are hot obviously.....no Boise State or UNLV. Both teams are beginning to peak, and NOBODY will want anything to do with them. Of course it would be best to avoid UNM, rarely does the #1 seed lose early. I would like to see UW play, outside of the obvious teams (Fresno/Nevada)....Colorado State again. Not sure if CSU could muster up the intensity to destroy UW again. Especially in back-to-back games. So honestly....I'd say Fresno/Nevada > CSU > AFA > Title game would be the best route.

I actually like Wyoming's chances against New Mexico better than UNLV or CSU so playing them doesn't bother me. If I could pick a semifinal game for Wyoming to play with the way it seems the bracket will be set up I would like to play Boise St. I think even though Boise St. is playing better than about any team in the conference I would rather have Wyoming play them instead of San Diego St.

I don't think we would match up as well against San Diego St. for some reason. Just would have to hope Boise isn't hitting their 3's. Once you get to the championship game anything can happen and you just play your heart out and hope its enough to pull off the upset.

Actually couldn't agree more now that I think about it.
We have a looong long shot at winning this thing. But who knows.

I will catch flack for this I'm sure, but I will always hold this team high. They were the only team in our program to go 13-0. They played tough, and even continued to play tough through all the adversity. We were in most every game. It wasn't like we were getting blown out every night. Our young guys stepped up and have played well in the midst of injury and illness.
Overall, I'm proud to be a Cowboy fan. And yes, I am happy that we will still finish this season with a winning record and potential postseason play, even if we aren't as good or our record isn't what others expected it to be.
And, I'm proud to be affiliated with a conference where almost everyone has stepped up and mad a name for themselves. When your conference is 7 teams deep (out of 9) to go to post season, it is special. This conference just seems to thrive!

I believe we are heading in the right direction. Shyatt is building something. Everyone was hopeful for an NCAA tourney birth in Shy's second year! That is after he took over a back to back 10 win team, who, mind you, was also a team that lost the majority of it's talent after transfers when Shyatt arrived. I'm damn proud of the kids that have stuck around, and the kids who have since chosen to wear Brown and Gold. We will be on the up and up. Next year is a question mark, but Shyatt has a way of taking the talent he has and getting wins. No, we are not a Kansas where we can regroup after each season. But I think we are well on our way.
Remember it took Tim Miles his entire tenure to turn CSU around and his best season was 20-12. We are in Shyatt's second year. if we only get 18 to 20 wins next year, we are still above that mark by what Shyatt has done already. On top of that, I think Shyatt will advance us to many postseasons in the next few years. Be it NCAA or NIT or even CBI. I think soon, we will be out recruiting our neighbors (CSU, Colorado) and will be winning over top recruits.
And for those who want to complain, did you expect us to be in two postseason tourney's after back to back 10 win seasons and the debacle tenure of Schroyer?

CSU is a terrible matchup for this team. I would be thrilled if the Pokes can beat Nevada and at least give all the fans that helped to sell out our allotment months ago a chance to see the Pokes play by the time they get to Vegas (obviously many will now go down early, but still).

It is NOT Shyatts fault that the team collapsed w/out him. Again 1.5 recruiting classes. This not the same as Brett Smith going out during year 4 of the program. This is year two.
And the whole thing about us not having d1 players...good god. Adams and Larry Nance are beasts.
Grabau, is solid as hell. Can hit some 3s. Doesn't turn the ball over much. Can dish it out.

I think our key to the Big Dance this season is.....
Beating Nevada in the pigtail game. Surprising NM, hopefully the old rule of "it's hard to beat a team 3 times in a season" is true. Just not for the Nevada game.
Then we gotta have Boise beat SDSU. Then hopefully, again, the "it's hard to beat a team 3 times in a season" is true again with Boise. Then in the MWC Championship game, hopefully we get AFA. I think UNLV is gonna be a beast but for some reason I feel that AFA can take them in Vegas because they can drain the 3 and they SHOULD be able to play through adversity as they are military boys.

Now watch every nay sayer call me a homer and an idiot for logically saying HOW we get to the tourney.

I am not saying that is what is going to happen but that is what NEEDS to happen.

Between the NCAA tournament, NIT, CBI and colleginsider tournament, roughly half the teams in Division I basketball make the postseason. Let's aim a little higher, shall we?
