MWC Tourney

I feel ya kansascowboy... we beat a lot of ncaa tourney teams this season. Yes we shit the bed in MWC play but Martinez being out had a HUGE deal to do with it. It is NOT Shyatts fault that the team collapsed w/out him. Again 1.5 recruiting classes. This not the same as Brett Smith going out during year 4 of the program. This is year two.
And the whole thing about us not having d1 players...good god. Adams and Larry Nance are beasts.
Grabau, is solid as hell. Can hit some 3s. Doesn't turn the ball over much. Can dish it out.

I think our key to the Big Dance this season is.....
Beating Nevada in the pigtail game. Surprising NM, hopefully the old rule of "it's hard to beat a team 3 times in a season" is true. Just not for the Nevada game.
Then we gotta have Boise beat SDSU. Then hopefully, again, the "it's hard to beat a team 3 times in a season" is true again with Boise. Then in the MWC Championship game, hopefully we get AFA. I think UNLV is gonna be a beast but for some reason I feel that AFA can take them in Vegas because they can drain the 3 and they SHOULD be able to play through adversity as they are military boys.

Now watch every nay sayer call me a homer and an idiot for logically saying HOW we get to the tourney.

I am not saying that is what is going to happen but that is what NEEDS to happen.

I'm not pretending it is. All I said is that is the best way for it to happen, actually if you look at the post right above it I said that AFA or Boise is gonna win the Tourney. There is no pretending.

And to answer your other question about if dunking makes you a beast, then look at Blake Griffin.

No way Franklin is the best NBA prospect. He has fallen off a LOT. he has shown he is a complete ball hog and has MAJOR attitude problems, while Anthony Bennett from UNLV is a for sure 1st rounder and probably a lottery pick.

Lol I know that the Utah Jazz need to fire their coach as the Jazz have 4 lottery picks in the last few years all being back ups. The starting unit SUCKS and then they put in the young guns (Gordon Hayward, Alec Burks, Derrick Favors, and Enes Kanter) and they start dominating and get us back into the game and then the starters come back in and the Jazz lose.

And I know that LeBron has all but wrapped up another MVP as him and the Heat have won like 16 or 17 straight and no one can slow them down right now.

Agreed. My rankings are as follows:

4) Leonard Washington

If you only look at the conference games, then Washington doesn't deserve that high of a ranking, but if you take the season in it's entirety, Washington had one hell of a season.

I am probably going to catch hell but I wouldnt have Leonard in the top 10 for POY. How many game (especially in conference play) did he not show up until the second half? How many games did he go into halftime with under 4 points just to miraculously drop 12,14,16+ point on them in the second half and 10+ rebounds. It is amazing how fast 6-8 first half points suddenly jumps to 20-24 if you play two halves. That is 3-4 possessions that now go from wasted to productive. How many games did we lose by 3-4 possession? YOU WOULD NEVER see Colton Iverson taking a half off let alone one half every conference game. I like Leonard but I personally think he underachieved this year and, with the situation with Luke, it had a major impact on the way the year turned out

I think if Schroyer was still coaching, an offense where we try and score a bunch and don't care about D, Leonard could have been averaging 20 points a game. We would have won about 12 games all season, but Leonard would have awesome personal stats.

Yeah whether it is Wyo or Nevada, it is gonna be almost a true road game for who ever has to play NM.

They pack that place.

Man, NM has been dominating the MWC for years now, and they are gonna return a GREAT team. One of my favorite players to watch in the MWC is Tony Snell, he averages about 12-14 points consistently and gets a few dimes and few boards every game. I think he can go to the NBA but because Kendall Williams is also out there with him he doesn't get the chance to play Jamaal Franklin type ball.
NM should be a top 10 team next season. If they don't end this season Top 10.

I hope so. This is a very important March for the MWC. Someone has to make the Sweet Sixteen, or the east coast media will deem the conference a complete fraud.

Agreed, we can't play the whole "give us respect we have the #2 rpi" card if we don't even win 2 games...like last season.

I feel like we are getting at least 2 Sweet 16 teams.

Now I have a question about perception. Wyo starts out great, cracks the Top 25, then finishes the season crap. If we go on a run in the MWC Tourney, and win it. Do the rest of the MWC call our Tourney run a fluke? Or do they call our MWC regular season record (4-12) a fluke?

Or would it depend on how we did in the Big Dance? Get blown out by a 3 seed, then they call our tourney run a fluke, or if we play a close game or even make it to the next round they call our regular season a fluke?

I think if we were to do that, the media would love it, because they love larry shyatt, and that could give the MWC some big props. But it could also be an excuse for "how weak the MWC really is if Wyo can win it as an 8 seed"

Anyways, not trying to get any hopes up, just curious as to how the fans perception would be.
