MWC Tournament Meet up - Read if going!!!!

So this will be the first MWC tournament I have gone too and since getting to a UW game is just too hard from Arizona I was hoping we could pre plan something to meet up. Definitely a number of you I would like to meet and buy a drink and I think it would be pretty cool to hang out during the games etc.

I've been doing some searching, checking locations etc I don't plan on renting a car so I was looking for places somewhat nearby the T & M and hotels in the area.

BJ'S Cocktail Lounge East
218 East Tropicana Avenue, Las Vegas, NV 89169

This looks like this best location, I started a map it's public and you can add your hotel to it and put your forum name in the details this will help me organize based on location. If you don't want to add to it that is fine but you aren't allowed to complain about the location picked.

https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=zjODQRj_OJXs.khadaT1RAslo" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

We also need to work on date & time if we are going to actually meet up. Who knows how hard it will be to get 5+ people at a table. If we want a legit meet up I'll cover the cost for reserving the place I'm fine with that but if you are going it's really important that you show up, don't tell me you will be there and not show I don't want to pay for an empty seat.

** Currently I have booked my Hotel and Flight and it's all paid for HRH is where I'm staying and it's double queen beds room for 4. Currently we have 2 maybe 3 people which means if you're single and looking to save a large amount of money I'm going to be there from the 10th until the 15th. Once we have 4 the deal is done but the door is open until that happens nothing wrong with saving some money! You are welcome to stay any or all of the nights.

Fantastic idea. Seems like a lot of guys from the board go down for the tournament. I'll be in Vegas the week after, unfortunately.. our annual guys trip this year is during the 1st round of the tournament, and since I travel with Big Sky guys, they don't care about the MW, so I was out-voted.

If anyone wants to help organize something somewhere PM me we can get in contact and get something setup.

Count me in...

I haven't been to Vegas in a long time so I'm all for some ideas where to meet up, Should try to find a place close to the T&M so we could catch drinks between games for teams we don't care about or before or after games.

Anyone familiar let me know some places and I'll work out something.

A couple of dives:

PT's Pub - on Trop & Maryland - a block from the T&M
Stake Out - on Maryland across from campus - about a block from the T&M as well

Not sure if either are still open, or what.

Also - I am up for the concourse bar at the T&M as well...

Probably has $10 soda and $15 beer to accompany it lol.

The last couple of years, the Hard Rock has been the place for Poke fans to do some pre game drinking. They have the band and cheerleaders stop by and it's close to the T&M. Usually pretty good crowd there.

The Hardrock has a Mexican restaurant called "the pink taco". Good food and very good margs

The bar in the T&M, as well as, the beer vendors there have reasonably priced drinks, all things considered. They are probably the same as drinking at most places, if not a little cheaper... and nothing is cooler than seeing them fill up your beer from the bottom up with no foam... those magnet bottoms are so cool, it blows my mind every time

Stake Out's not a bad call, probably the oldest surviving watering hole near campus. P.T.'s is pretty generic, although they do hire some "talented" bartenders. Since Joe Romano got promoted from chef the food's gone downhill.

Gotta be honest about the HRH- the food and beverage there is less than spectacular. It's pretty much a joke in LV F&B circles. People who can't get hired at a Caesar's property get hired at HRH before they just give up and leave town altogether. Nobu is the only place I recommend, but only if you're ready drop $150+ per person for dinner...

Ferraro's, right across the street from HRH (east of Paradise) has a pretty cool bar and lounge area, and if the weather's nice, the patio's great. Good Italian food there too. The proprietor Gino and his son, Mimmo, are always happy to see Wyoming fans.

Personally, the greatest saloon in LV and one of the closest bars to the T&M is the Double Down. All dive bars aspire to its level. The owner, Mos, is an old music industry veteran and a great, very unprentious guy. Place is an absoulte crossroads of people. Cheap beer, great jukebox, and staggering distance to both the T&M and HRH.

Surprised, though, you haven't suggested B.J.'s Cocktail Lounge...

;)

Have to bump this, and keep it alive. So...since everybody here makes decisions like my wife...I say we meet up at the T&M concourse bar. First one is on me - Poke fans only. WyoNation posters only.

I'm willing to meet up where ever you guys want it will definitely be a good time!

My Vegas pre-game is this: a Manhattan at Caesars Palace, and then a cab to the T&M, where it turns out I am always so parched that I need to start right in on their beers.

I'm in. For what it's worth.
