Just a few random notes around the MWC:
1. Nevada - AJ West has been granted an additional year of eligibility. This is huge for them as he will have 2 more years instead of this being his senior year. Really filled a hole for them in the middle last year.
2. UNLV - Cody Doolin's first waiver was approved (that basically gave him a redshirt year for last year at USF) which means he will definitely be a Rebel. They are still waiting to hear whether or not he will be able to play this year or have to sit for a year and then play the following year. I would expect it to be approved and for Doolin to lead UNLV at the point this year. Important player for the Rebels as a senior floor general will be a huge asset in keeping the talented freshmen together.
3. Boise St. - BSU has released what must be the worst home OOC schedule in the history of the MWC. Their overall schedule isn't horrible, so it won't hurt the MWC, but if I was a BSU season ticket holder? Ugly, just ugly. Here it is for your amusement: http://www.broncosports.com/sports/m-baskbl/sched/bosu-m-baskbl-sched.html. Only 5 regular season OOC home games (plus 2 exhibition) and they include 2 non-D1 schools (as are the exhibitions obviously) to go with Southern Utah (a robust 1-27 a year ago) and Abilene Christian (new to D1). The only legitimate D1 team on that home slate is Montana. We know a thing or two about crappy home OOC games in Laramie, but this is just awful. Still think they make some noise this season though.
4. CSU - In order to save funds for their new on-campus stadium, Eustachy has recently switched to generic diet cola. Also, they added another late transfer from Grambling, Antwan Scott, who should replace Octeus' production.
5. USU - Stew added a late international player in Bilal Begic, a 7'1" 250 center from Bosnia. I know nothing about him, but they need help in the frontcourt so it could be an impact addition...or he could be the second coming of Mikhail Linksens. Who knows.
6. USU #2 - Sean Harris and his fantastic hair (http://www.utahstateaggies.com/sports/m-baskbl/spec-rel/082914aaa.html) have been granted a 6th year of eligibility. He has had a lot of injuries, but you can never have enough experienced frontcourt players.
