MWC Football is here!

Boise would easily be the best MW team if they had even an average QB. Just average....with Hedrick...hard to see it.

I wonder if any of their Freshmen/Sophomores have what it takes to step in? I don't even know who their backup is. This guy seems like he's got size, though:

Finley was a great recruit coming out of HS....but if that's the case, why doesn't play? I hate the experience argument coaches play.

Final thoughts on BSU:

-Defense looked better, but that injury to Horn could be big.
-Ajayi will not be stopped. If even that TERRIFYING Ole Miss front can't handle him, he'll run wild on everyone in the MW.
-Hedrick is awful. Broncos can't win the MW with him. Harsin seriously needs to consider backup QBs.
-Ultimately, give Ole Miss credit. We hate SEC schools flashing their star recruits in front of non-P5 fans...but they say it for a reason. Bigger, stronger, faster. Bottom line. It's the name of the game.

I agree on everything but Ajayi, I do respect his game and what he will be able to do however in my opinion he showed a lot of weak sides tonight. He doesn't square up and hit the hole he has a tendency to try to hit corners when he would be better just squaring up and quit dancing.

Boise defense doesn't appear to know how to tackle and wrap up, a lot of big hits that just bounce off people.

I'm not sure what to think of BSU's defense quite yet. They looked improved early on, but began to show signs of the same old defeciencies towards the end. I suppose you could argue they were put into tough situations by the turnovers the offense had, but good defenses play well regardless of the situation they find themselves in. Even if they are better, it's not by much.

As a pure runner, Ajayi is good but not great. His real strength is his versatility coming out of the backfield. He certainly has the ability to hurt teams on the ground, but where he will really make noise is as a receiver out of the backfield. He has a knack for finding open space, has good hands, and can make people miss after the catch. He is a match-up nightmare for a defense.

Hedrick certainly didn't have a good game, but I would not be ready to change QB's just yet if I were BSU. Other than the poor decisions he made that resulted in turnovers, I thought he played OK otherwise. While Ole Miss probably doesn't have an elite defense, it is likely stronger than most defenses he will face in the MWC this season. I expect Hedrick to right the ship and have a solid year. I'm not expecting an all-MWC type season from him, but he will solid.

This was really a classic Power 5 vs. Gang of 5 game. Close early on, but the depth of Ole Miss proved to be the difference. There really isn't that big of a gap in talent when comparing Ole Miss starters to BSU starters. However, the talent gap really shows up when you look at the second team. If BSU could play their top 22 guys for every single play, that game would have been much closer. Of course, that's not realistic to expect and they paid dearly when secon team players were forced into action by fatigue/injuries.

With essentially EVERY team in the MWC having big question marks, it is impossible to know what will happen. BSU has a chink in their armor right now, to be sure. Still will be a tough team for conference play.

If Bohl really has our guys well conditioned, disciplined, and tough, it will go a long way this year--maybe more than any other year in MWC history.

Boise St. will rectify the poor tackling well before we play them. Their D-Line looked quick and strong. I hope we can get 4 picks on them. :)

Sure makes a fan nervous. Deayon got hurt, Horn may be done for the season....fans were wrong, Hedrick is still terrible. Reminds you that while August brings a nice pitcher of kool aid with it, September can humble a fan base quick. All it takes is a few injuries and for one player to not improve for everything to go to shit.

Guess I'm outta the loop. I didnt really think Boise looked that good on either side of the ball. Their OL will definitely be their strength but every else they looked average, at best. Its weird to say, we may have a better QB situation right now. I wasn't impressed with them last night.

The only positions I "know" are solid are the receivers and running backs. They've proven that the last couple of years. I want to see how we do tomorrow before I compare anything else of ours to anyone else.

I didn't think they looked great, once Wallace settled in he torched them. I didn't even think their OL looked great, but they were up against one of their biggest beasts in all of college football (Robert Nkemdiche)

It was a rather ugly game.. 6 interceptions in the first half. Mostly telegraphed passes

That Nkemdiche kid is a monster. I bet he makes the jump to the next level this offseason. He's a man amongst boys

He can't... he is only a sophomore, scary thought. He played a little running back last year too

That's where I am right now too.

For me, the MWC is so craptastic this year, there simply can't be that much separation of talent unless we've regressed since last year. At minimum, I don't think we take a step back. I really don't believe there will be that much of a difference in the MWC this year in terms of talent of the various units.

Have to give Ole Miss their due though...that defense IS great. Let's not forget....we've seen Ajayi throw Eddie Yarborough to the ground with one arm to score a TD. Boise was awful last season and still managed to make Wyoming look like they have no talent.

UNLV looked like a quality MWC team tonight. 58-13 Arizona.

Zona sets a new team record for total yards (787), and total passing yards for a freshman (425).

And the sheep ploughed the fluffs. 2 RBs with over 100 yards. Though not sure if it was from their o-line getting such a good push and good rbs, a really bad front 7 from the fluffs, or a combination.

Some of both. They looked good....but come on, who doesn't vs. CU?

Yeah, that cost me a c note. I thought AZ had enough youth to start a little slow.
