If Sobey and Adams had stepped up earlier in the season, they would have had good shots at making all conference teams.

And like I said, if Nance hadn't gone down, Birch probably would not have won DPOY, and it would have gone to Nance, and Rebels18 would be having an even bigger fit than he already is.

How so? Birch was averaging more blocks per game.
But Nance overall was a better defender, and better player. Nance also had steals, forced TOs, and just good defense. Birch, even though he swatted away a lot of balls, a critical point of that was that he would just swat them as hard as he could and not much else.

Stop it. Birch averaged more boards as well. You're talking crazy.

Actually when you are looking at defensive player of the year you look at defensive boards not total boards or offensive boards.
Nance missed 5 games and still had more defensive boards than Birch did. Birch played in 31 games and had 186 defensive boards and Nance played in 26 games and had 189 defensive boards.

Advantage Nance. Nance finished 2nd in the league in defensive boards only .001 behind the league leader.
Nance finished 6th in the conference in steals which is very very good for a big man. Birch was nowhere to be found.
Nance finished 4th in blocks and of course Birch was first.

If Nance wouldn't have been hurt he would have had a great chance at DPOY. He was actually leading for it before he went down.

Nance was by far a better all around defensive player and if you argue that you just haven't looked at any stats. The only one talking crazy here is you. Birch out blocked Nance and that was it. Now you can get all crazy and count both offensive and defensive rebounds in a defensive POY category if you want.

Fact of the matter is Nance out performed Birch in every way he could with 5 less games played, Had Nance not got hurt he would have been a shoe in for Defensive POY.
