MW Tourney passes

Hey, not too sure how many of you are thinking of going to Vegas, but UW won't sell you an all session pass unless your a CJC or season ticket holder. I just ordered mine from the San Jose St. office, yes they were a little more than the $220.00 for CJC/Season ticket holders, but they are in the lower bowl. Actually the guy I talked to said they haven't sold very many and don't expect to, so my seats are pretty close to the court in the SJS section. Air Force told me their passes would go on sale Monday January 11 for all non season ticket and booster people.

Maybe you ought to join Cowboy Joe Club?

HA..maybe you should worry about how you spend your money and Ill worry how I spend mine! Im just passing information on the information highway.

I didn't demand that you join Cowboy Joe Club. I only offered a solution to your problem, which as I translate it is: 1) paying more for a tournament pass, and 2) not being able to sit in the Wyoming section at said tournament.

Ive sat in the upper bowl the last 11 years. You see, I got married at the MW tourney 11 years ago and the tourney is really the only games I have a good chance at seeing all year. So, Im thinking a few extra dollars in a section thats not even sending a mens team isn't that big of a problem. I was just giving information to people out there like me or someone that wants a closer seat. Im guessing if UW doesn't make the finals and UNLV/SDSU/NM does, my seat might go for chunk of change ....Never once said I had a problem, you did. ;)

Yeah, I guess that your problem is that you're paying more for tickets and supporting a rival institution in an effort to spite the Wyoming Athletic Department. Also, as an FYI, every single all-session pass sold by university athletic departments is in the lower bowl.

I'm not pointing at you here, but a lot of Wyoming fans choose to do this, and in the same breath complain about how our budgets aren't increasing and how CSU is passing us by. This very instance regarding the MWC Tournament would cover the actual and perceived value of a $100 CJC membership...not to mention that they send you a parking pass, a hat, and you get a phone call once a year from a student-athlete thanking you for paying for their education.

I don't work for CJC or anything, but it's funny to me how much Wyoming fans will complain about how we don't have enough ticket takers at games and how our budget is pathetic, but they don't come to games or financially support the program. The Athletic Department was giving away free tickets to the UNLV game for Christ's sake, and people are complaining that they had to wait in line to get in because the University's volunteer help was on Christmas vacation.

Not everything is peachy at the UW Athletic Department, but it's time for fans to put up or shut up. Come to games and/or donate to Cowboy Joe Club. Don't assume that everyone else will make up your slack. It's like people that bitch about the President, then disclose they didn't vote. It's tough for the University to value someone as a fan if there's no threat of losing something of value (i.e., your attendance or your donation).

I've never been to Vegas. What is the closest casino/hotel? I'm really considering going. Don't think my ole lady would want to go and hopefully my dad can make it after his knee replacement. Either that or I'm contemplating lone wolfing it

The closest to the arena is Hard Rock Hotel. It's practically in the parking lot.

Ok... If you would like, you can go ahead and search my name and see how many times Ive complained about anything about UW. Ill save you time, Its 0,ZERO, NADA, NEVER EVER!!! :D

I know you said you weren't pointing fingers, but then you bring it up in my thread. Go start your own thread if you have complaints. I was not and did not complain about UW not selling to Nonmembers, I simply stated that they didn't. And when would you like me to use the parking pass, the never times a year I get to see a game in Laramie??? A free hat?? come on, Ive got more UW hats then days left in my life...

Fact is, you don't know anything about me or my situation, but you speak like we have known each other for years. You speak to me as if Im your son that just disappointed you by sneaking alcohol into the temple. NOT that I'm mormon, just using that for example.

So maybe, if you don't like the information that I passed on then you should contact a moderator to rectify the situation or ignore the post. Either way, I feel like Im more of a solution finder than a problem finder.....

That's a fairly large, and broad, brush you are painting with there wyopig. How about the fans that donate their asses off and complain about not enough ticket takers? And you say the University's volunteer help was on Christmas vacation...to that I say, PLAN BETTER...know your business...know your staffing...do your damn job! Cater to the fan for the love of god...cater to your buyer, your client, your customer!

And put up or shut up? I am so sick of that shit...again, nice big broad brush. We have put up, and we are not going to shut up - NOR are we going to accept a shit sandwich. We go to every home game (football and men's basketball) and a great portion of away games for both. We attend the women's home basketball games - at a 75% clip or higher. And further, as I said above, we have given and given and given to UW & CJC, and we continue to.

You think UW is at risk to lose me (or my type) as a fan? They already have in a lot of instances (as evidence by other recent threads on this topic). Maybe instead of pounding on the fanbase to do more...you should be pounding on the athletic department to do more. A lot more.

Just my advice...stay on the strip.

Hard Rock is a double bonus... it is the closest major hotel/casino to the Thomas and Mack, and it is the official team hotel for the Cowboys!

As far as tickets, I've always gone with the tournament passes, but I think I'll buy individual session passes this year. Despite all good intentions, I always end up somewhere else in Vegas when the Wyoming teams aren't involved!

LAXWYO,

Oh, its great fun you should try to find a way to go some year. Wyopig is correct the Hardrock is like a block or two away. Now, they are big blocks so be prepared, but very walkable. We have always bought tickets through the
Thomas and Mack so we have never been in the lower bowl, but this year I decided (against wyopigs advise) to call around to other teams ticket office to get lower bowl tickets. SJSU was a no brainer this year, since their mens team is not even going. We have always been able to sell the other session tickets that we did not attend, but I noticed over the years that everyone wants lower bowl tickets, and will pay a premium for them if their team is in the championship game.

Anyways, you should really try to make it if you can swing it, but by no means don't let me force you into something you don't feel like doing! HA HA sorry had to......

HA!!

That right there is a high quality sick-ass burn.

So no lower bowl unless you are a cjc member or season ticket holder? Aren't those one in the same ? To get priority seating at the AA , you need to donate to cjc, but season tickets and then pay $250 per season ticket for the seating? I'm looking at cjc finally. Ole ladies company will match too so that's a bonus

Yes, UW is only selling to members/season ticket holders only (not complaining). So if you want to be in the lower bowl, you'll have to contact another school (who will remain nameless, but is in the original post, to save the ass chewing from other posters).

Wiley Wapiti, I'm sorry to hijack your thread. I wasn't pointing fingers at you, and my frustration was misdirected. The comment about the free hat is facetious, mainly focusing on some of the other value in a CJC membership...mostly being scholarship support for student-athletes.

McPeachy, you're the type of person that deserves the right to complain. You have put up, and you don't need to shut up. I'm also not making excuses for the athletic department. Failure to please the fans that actually show up is a big problem. I'm simply illustrating the disconnect between what fans want/expect (and they're very vocal in those expectation) and what they're willing to contribute to. Do people think that the programs are infinitely funded? How do fans expect our basketball team, who is already good and deserves support, to become the top-notch program that the fans seem to demand.

This isn't exactly a chicken-egg type of situation. A lot of fans want to take as much as they can from the program without giving back. While many fans justify that by saying that the athletic department is always finding ways to screw the fan, I can assure everyone that nobody at UW takes the fan for granted. Nobody is showing up, and it's tough to figure out why. The fact remains that UW will never be competitive in the MWC on a sustainable basis without figuring out how to increase revenue and budgets.

Its ok wyopig, I know that tensions are running high and things are getting a little out of control, thats why I really tried to be funny with all my re-posts. I really didn't take any of that personally....have a good trip tomorrow night to the fort and maybe I can buy you a beer or jack and coke at the tourney. You will be supporting UW at the tourney, right? ;) ;)

Unfortunately, I will not be in Vegas

I'm glad that you will be though! Hopefully you and several thousand more brown and gold clad fans!
