MW champions and 1st round loss or NIT Championship

I'll put this one out there, as its a possibility - yep, manifesting a strong close by the boys this year.

Wyoming wins the MW Tourney in vegas and gets to the first round of the NCAA tourney, but loses again OR Wyoming gets into the NIT and wins it all - NIT Champions. Which banner would you rather hang?? My vote, NIT Champions would be huge for Wyoming.

Hmmmmmm yeah close to zero BUT what if we win out to the MWC title game then lose that??? We'd be like 21-13 and absolutely on FIRE, probably worth an NIT look. Now the chances of that happening might be around 5% or less. Depending on who's brown n gold liquid glasses though they might tell you much higher then that :lol: :lol: :lol:

From a selfish standpoint, I'd love to see Josh play as many more games as a Cowboy as possible, so I'd vote for the NIT run versus a guaranteed one-and-done in the Big Dance.

RPIforecast shows that if we win out the regular season we would finish with an RPI of 117. Going 2-1 in the MWCT, would probably have us finish in the 105-110 range. Realistically you have to have a Top 80 RPI to make the NIT (Unless you get an auto bid as a regular season champ that doesn't make the NCAA, which impacts lower conferences for the most part).

So, the answer is still zero chance. I would be very happy regardless if we closed out that way though.

It's sports man! Never say never until its done. I love that David has the positive WYO imaginary visions of success in his head and is sharing. I've been there too and done the same on this board. Hell I've been right about it too. You might be right but until we lose another game I say this dream is still barely burning.

Sometimes though man its computers be damned! I'd say it might depend on the fashion we dispose of opponents and how we lose that championship game. What if we start tearing the league up? Finally start beating teams soundly along the way. We make big noise with a deserved run into the title game. We lose a heartbreaker to SDSU in a close one. Could you easily dispatch that UW team from the NIT with one of the nations top scorers and future NBA prospect on the team???? I mean I doubt it!

Curious about this myself. We're 12-13, and everyone is talking Conf championships, NCAA tourney or NIT??? Really.

If anything, and this is a big "IF", we may do well enough to go back to the... CBI.

I love threads like this. They might have the lifespan of a mosquito but it's a thought we get to have for like 3 to 4 days. It stays alive if the team keeps winning. If they lose again yeah NIT toast I'd say, it's a sttttrrrreeeettttcccchhhhhhhh right now but we can't lose again to make it. So let's dream about NIT or NCAA for like 3 to 4 days before cold harsh reality wallops us in the face like winter in Wyoming.

That's just way too pessimistic of a view for me sorry. I feel like we should likely at least get 3 wins from these next 6.
@Boise St- This will be tough but I think its a 50/50 game with Adams back. I expect a tight finish that could go either way. Boise isn't the toughest gym in the conference to play in yet.
vs Fresno St- I think we win this one at home. We struggle in Cali but Cali tends to struggle in Wyo.
@ CSU- Oh fuck YES we win this game!
vs SDSU- Never easy against these guys but we've seen much shittier Pokes teams take out much better SDSU teams in the DOME OF DOOM. I'm not writing this one off either. 50/50 game
@UNLV- They fired Dave Rice so this just got a WHOLE lot tougher. Still they have problems. Should be our toughest road game left imo. Most likely we drop this.

Yeah I don't know how many games we will win down the stretch but with the way this conference has been playing this season we will have a shot in every game. Will we win them all? very unlikely but will we do better than 1-5? Very likely.

You ask how someone could come to such a conclusion? Well we have lost to much worse teams than what remain on our schedule. I think unfortunately 1-5 is much more probable than 4-2. We've lost at home to the likes of Southern and Fresno won in Laramie last year I believe. Hardly a house of horrors for them. We've already lost to the dregs of the MW in SJSU and Air Force so predicting us to lose against better MW teams is a rational prediction. We're coming off of a very nice win, but it's one game. We're 2-4 in our last 6 games. I'd like to see a bit more consistency from this team before predicting anything above a 2-4 finish. I think we finish 2-4 or 3-3, anything above 3-3 would be a big success IMO. I see us winning SJSU and stealing one other game, maybe CSU as we seem to have their number. we will be dogs in every game besides SJSU. Maybe we can catch fire against Fresno at home.
