Ha. Oh my. Natural beauty? Really? Your football team is currently perceived as much better than ours. That is a fact. We will find out if that perception is correct tomorrow. But whose state is more beautiful? My friend...you have a lot to learn about Wyoming. There are few places on this planet as beautiful as the great state of Wyoming. I'm not going to waste everyone's time here by listing it, but are you seriously saying your coastline matches up to Yellowstone? Well I guess it's an argument based on opinion so there's no way to determine, but basic logic is not in your favor little guy. And as far as politics go....I don't think we should go there. There's enough fighting between liberals and conservatives as it is. I'm proud to be an American whether I agree with what the liberals are doing to it or not. :).

Having lived both in Seaside and all over Wyoming, the two are comparable when it comes to natural beauty. Yellowstone may be more "unique," and the Oregon coast may share that beauty with Washington State and BC, but the Cascades, Mt. Hood, etc have their own unique charms. The massive undergrowth, the heavy wet snow about as thick as a milkshake compared to Wyoming's abundant but light dry flakes. Giant slugs and trees as wide as your car are just as amazing as to me as herds of thousands of pronghorn sprinting across a desert. No doubt these are two of the most beautiful states in the US.

You can say the coastline is the tie breaker, fair enough, as we don't have one. However, I've been to Cannon Beach, and I've been to beaches all over the world. Cannon Beach was the only beach I've been to where they post do not swim signs for something called, if I remember this correctly, rolling logs. The locals said we'd be crushed if we went swimming. Damn, I've been to Australia where you have sharks bouncing off your legs, Florida where you have to dodge boat people from Haiti and Cuba, and New Jersey where you have to pull the discarded needles out of your feet when your done swimming. But none of them said "no swimming". In Oregon, a couple sticks floating around in the water makes it off limits. And you say we're conservative!

If you do make the trip to Laramie to buy drinks, right now a lot of us are only drinking Bohl flavored Kool-Aid.

The coast is the single-most overrated thing ever. Lived 20 years near the coast in a place so green that it hurt your eyes in the spring, then moved across the ocean (the other one) and up into the Rockies. Only thing I miss is reasonably priced quality seafood.

Seeing Long's Peak (plenty of similarly beautiful mountain peaks in Wyoming as well) every morning as I drive to work more than makes up for it, though. As does the low humidity and high quality powder snow.

No doubt Mount Hood is very pretty, but it's still just a single peak. I'd take the Grand Tetons any day. ;)

Mount Hood isn't an isolated peak. We have many mountains and the Cascade mountain range is nothing to laugh at. I think we can both agree that Wyoming and Oregon have beautiful areas and would beat out most of the country 95% of the time in the natural beauty category.

You can't pump your own gas in Oregon. Is that because Oregoneons are too lazy? Or too dumb? Or too careless? Or what?

Pretty good troll there.

We don't get fuel on our boots and our jeans and stink like hell. It's just a ploy by oil companies to make more money.
Gives people jobs working at gas stations. In my town they do stuff like wash the windshield. Novel eh?
