Mountain West standings through Week 7

Hard to believe. The question is, if Sawvel manages to get this team into a position where they are in the conference championship race, does everyone on here eat crow and jump back on the bandwagon? I will gladly admit I was wrong if he pulls it off!

I will eat crow.... I still think 6-6 is the record and bowl game.... chance at 7 wins.... Sawful keeps his job.. But the problem is the same he is not coaching the boys up.... Been a theme in his tenure

I would expect us to be underdogs in the remainder of our games outside of UTEP.

UTEP will be far from a given win because it is a road game - we’ve lost to some atrocious teams when playing on the road in the past. Air Force and UConn are winnable games, but we will have to play mistake free football and make a few big plays to get wins in those - something we haven’t shown we can do against teams with any sort of pulse.

On a positive note, Hawaii almost beat New Mexico. In this conference, anything is possible. Let’s hope we can find two more wins somewhere.

I was hoping beyond hope that we made some improvements and predicted 8 wins. This team could get 6. I wouldn’t say it’s eating crow but much like the Bohl years, some wins were left out there. Central Michigan was a gut punch

Sawvel basically said he thought our base defense was going to be good enough to stop their offense. OK, sure, but I will never understand why we made absolutely no in game adjustments to give us a chance in that game.

It's something that has always bothered me about Sawvel. We go in with a gameplan, and if it isn't working, we seem to have no plan B.

I am going to die of laughter and embarrassment if Sawvel somehow, some way falls backasswards into a conference championship game.

That means we're in for at least two more years of embarrassing and inexplicable losses (especially in Border Wars), with the occasional streak of luck if we have some weak competition.

We can argue that Bohls only championship we backwards into as well after New Mexico crushed us

I will eat crow if he gets to 6 wins for sure. But our strength of schedule is undeniably bad.

8 wins was doable. We now know how bad CSU Iis and CMU a huge failure. Imagine us at 6-1. Now we are treading water and not drowing, but we are in the real deep stuff.

Folks are really letting that NIU game cloud their judgment.

There is nothing about getting to 6 wins with this terrible schedule that would have me labeling it a "successful season". We got clobbered by our biggest rival, nearly lost to a terrible FCS team at home, and got smoked by a bad MAC team on the road.

If we go 4-1 the rest of the way, I will change my tune. Anything other than that, I would still consider the season a failure and be more than ready to move on from Sawvel as soon as possible.
