More mono...

The only good thing is they are much younger then I was and in tremendous shape. I'm guessing it'll be a hell of lot easier on them then some average joe that just drinks too much and eats kinda like shit

Who the hell is the douche nozzle blaming Herndon for Nance being sick? Anyone on the the players on the team could have had it and it is affecting Herndon and now Nance. Its no ones fault. WE can win at AF without them. It's going to take another huge game from DC, normal games from Riley, Josh, and Hank, and another big game from the bench. If the CSU game showed us anything, its that we can go 4 deep off the bench and still defend AND score. We should be ok tomorrow without Larry and Alan. Now the game against SDSU is a whole different monster...

I don't get this "catching it early" stuff. It's a virus. So there's no vaccine, right? Presumably rest and ones own immune system cures it. So what do they do for it?

The "catching it early" stuff is just fluffy bullshit. Your absolutely right you can only rest and your immune system fights it. Catching it early only means that they know they need to rest right away. It is better then not knowing and thinking it's a cold like my scenario. Don't get confused by my earlier post the antibiotics were only for the staph infection. Now the only thing these guys can do is take it extremely easy. I doubt they can really practice or that they should.

With my knowledge of this stuff I'd stand by the coaches and staff if these kids don't play the rest of the year. That would be a HUGE bummer, but their health and families are more important then any basketball game. I'm proud of these guys and love this team to death already. Nothing is gonna change that.

I think the big difference is originally it was assumed Herndon had strep and he had been taken to a Dr and gotten hydrated and antibiotics for it. Then the weekend following the game it was determined to be mono, Had the diagnosis been right from the get go it too would have most likely been caught early and they would have had him rest and not play at all.

Haha yeah, apparently it doesn't matter how much we make it known that it's a virus and therefore has no treatment. Once I think we've put it to bed, someone else says it again.

People either don't read posts or they think we're full of shit.

(to answer your question: you rest, keep yourself well fed and well hydrated, monitor your spleen's condition, and wait it out)

It looks like mono usually takes 2-4 weeks to resolve itself. Why couldn't this happen at the beginning of the season against the likes of Regis.

Nance deals with Chrones, plays again after a torn ACL, and now gets mono! The dude already deserves his own chuck Norris/ John fletcher quotes!

I wonder how this effects Larry's disease that we read about in USA today?

Larry's Crohn's Disease can cause fatigue. So having mono is a double edged sword since it also cause fatigue and weakness. He's one tough kid to fight through all of that adversity. We are really lucky to have him. He just needs rest and time to get better. From the looks of the tweets from his team mates, they are going to step up and take care of things. The Pokes are one motivated bunch. Air Force better look out, I think there's a buzz saw headed their way. I hope Nance and Herndon both get better soon.

Look, they're both going to be out for at least two and possibly four weeks so they don't, you know, rupture their spleens. Time to get focused on the MWC tourney as that's our only way into the tournament.

God hates Wyoming
Certainly seems like it. 3 years in a row we have something go very wrong.
It wasn't His fault the first year. A night of dumb choices was to blame. But this year and last? Totally God's fault lol
