Missouri AD on Scheduling

I was dissecting the 2008 season and looking at it as a possible playoff perspective. Utah was the only team to go undefeated every other team had at least 1 loss.

Using a SoS, W:L and a combination of the teams Utah beat that beat/played other teams.

As much as I want to and in 2008 needed to see Utah in the NC Game just to make a G5 statement, I can't consciously give them one of the top 4 spots. Because they didn't beat anyone except Michigan and Oregon State both of which were mediocre P5 Teams that year. Sure they beat TCU and BYU who were ranked but they aren't G5 so they don't recognize them as deserving of those ranks to begin with.

They beat TCU who only beat BYU who was ranked 9th, BYU beat an un-ranked Washington, Utah beat Michigan who went 3-9 only wins coming against #9 Wisconsin and Oregon State also un-ranked but they did have a solid season and beat #1 USC.

So when you take all those factors Utah was so deserving and smashed the shit out of Alabama but if I was on a playoff committee there is no way I would give them a top 4 spot. Week 16 they were #5 and finished #2 overall after beating Bama.

This alone I can not see it being possible for a G5 team to ever make it in the top 4 w/o 4 P5 top 10 wins. I really hope the G5 Conference Commissioners start working on something soon otherwise we'll just continue to window shop relevancy.

If they do cancel it, may as well cancel our game with them. Look to a school that isn't playing for the "let's not leave our state for OOC" conference. Think a school like K-State would be open to it?

K-State?

Maybe they would like to have another shot at Bohl?

All i know is we got Oregon, Mich State and that is fine with me for this year.
We can take our show on the road and IF we become a top tier team in the MWC then we will be an in demand school for outlier programs to schedule with. You can speculate on the dynamics of relevancy and BCS bowl selection, the fact is we most likely won't return to that level ever. But we can win solid bowl games, and compete in large markets if we regain a competitive edge to UW across the board in the revenue producing sports. That I think is the format we need to work on. Bohl knows this and so does Shyatt, they wouldn't be here if they thought Wyo didn't matter. We're a gnat on the ass of a rhino, but we could cause a major welt and irritate the shit out of em'.
