Michael Alford - Florida State AD

I saw that he was recently fired from Florida State.....

Random note about Michael, I worked with him about 15 years ago and he told me at that time that his dream job was to be the AD at Wyoming. Dunno what you guys would think about him, or if that dream even remains for him since it's been a while.....but thought I'd throw that out there.

Unless he learned something drastic at FSU he is an old head that didn't mold to the new landscape as well or too slow. He is probably good to work with but he was slow to react. Now that could be the FSU landscape as he seemed to do well at CMU

This would be a good hire in my opinion. He did well at CMU and really only had one poor decision at FSU - the extension and raise of Mike Norvell a few years back.

Obviously, he would need to adjust to a much more limited budget and NIL funds than what he had at available at FSU. NIL has changed so much that it's really difficult to make a judgment based on pre-NIL performances. College athletics are an entirely different beast now. Success pre-NIL probably doesn't correlate well with success in the modern NIL world we are currently in.

The bolded portion above is exactly why I wouldn't want anything to do with him. The #1 thing we need from whoever the next AD will be is a willingness to hold coaches to a high standard of winning.

In retrospect, it was a bad decision.

In Alford's defense, Norvell had steadily improved FSU's performance each of the last four years culminating in an undefeated regular season. FSU's meltdown and struggles since then would have been nearly impossible to predict at the time.
