I don't know if I've ever seen a story as strange as this. A coach claiming to get death threats and no evidence to back it up.

Who would want McElwain after he said he and his players were threatened only to find out that the narrative was untrue? The reason McElwain is out is because of that bogus story; not so much his football accomplishments or the lack there of. The University of Florida Officials were embarrassed by those allegations and so was the UF fan base. Why would you mention such things in a press conference and not even tell the police or the University Officials?

One has to remember McElwain won two SECE titles his first two years at UF. Those are hard to come by for any school other than Bama, plus he lost 10 players due to suspension of some type at the being of the year. I can almost guarantee anyone that he would have gotten another year if not for those phony allegations. Because as wild and crazy as SEC fans are even they realize it would have been beneficial to have retained McElwain for another year.

Now, the coach that is still remaining at this time that blows my mind, is Butch Jones at UT. Those fans are very delusional and believe they should be equal to or better than Bama.

I know in all of my years of following college football I have never seen or heard of such! What a sad situation for all concerned.

He is officially out now, DC Randy Shannon will interim. This was a weird situation for sure and from the beginning the relationship/marriage was never a perfect one. 2 SEC East titles but he could never get the offense up to expectations and had trouble finding a QB.
