McDonald's All-Americans

Trey Washington
Josh Adams
Jason McManamen
Alan Herndon
Jonathon Barnes

This would be my guess as well with Lieberman, Marshall, James, and Williams off the bench.

I am very excited to see what Justin James can bring to the table. He has been playing very well for Oldsmar and it seems like he is their top scorer/player on a prep school team loaded with D-1 players (at least 7-8), several of whom will sign high major (Hester, Figueroa, probably Bassett). Maybe our first real wing with length since Afam.

Based on some of the things I have read I think Trey Washington will start along with Adams in the back court. Then you will have Herndon, Mac and one other big guy. Not sure which one yet.

They will probably end up red shirting one or two guys next year. Not sure which ones though unless Shyatt plans on using everyone.

I would expect to see at least one of the freshman bigs (Naughton or Moemeka) redshirt. Both are very raw by all accounts.

We still need more bigs I think. The scariest part is all these dudes are gonna have to come in here ready to play Mountain West level hoops. It's a high caliber conference. The paint is for men not boys in this conference.
Next year we'll have:

Herndon - 6'9" or 6'10"
Barnes - 6'10"
Naughton - 6'9"
Moemeka - 6'8"

and

James - 6'7" shooting guard

None of these guys will be upperclassmen next year.
Also 6'8" Tyrell Williams

Forgot Williams, but he will be another asset next year. Redshirts seemed to have helped Herndon and McManamen. Hope we see the same with Washington and Williams.

One thing I've noticed, we will have depth. Many scenarios for next years starting 5....which could include Gorski who I think is a very good player given the chance.

What do you think about Conway? He seems like the biggest recruit nationally we have but we have so many guards. Is he good enough to come in as a true freshman and take playing time over Lieberman or Trey? James will get playing time for sure because he can play 3 positions.

I am very high on Conway. He is a blur and pure point guard that has the ability to get to the rim when needed. I don't think Washington beats him out, and if he does to start the season, Conway overtakes him in conference season. Watching Conway in AAU tourneys was a real eye opener. Great player and exceptional attitude.

Just remember, these are only nominations. At this point, I guess I'd be surprised if any of them are actually selected for the game.

Are you really that dumb? "Just nominations?" What a great accomplishment for future Pokes. Dam.

We have nominees for the All American game and still cynical?

Well...ahhh....uhhh...... We had a Heisman nominee, but....uhhhhh........errrrrrrrrrr...........he didn't win, so, yeah....he must not be THAT good. :tickedoff:

Ehh... Not exactly the same. There's only a handful of heisman finalists. There are over 800 nominations this year, I'm guessing over 500 of them are boys and they're all seniors. Still an accomplishment, but it would be silly to pound our chests on something like this. I'd be more excited to have a top 100 recruit commit to us. Conway was ranked pretty highly as a sophomore but has fallen off those lists (perhaps due to his height?).

Anyways, the future is bright. These are highly skilled, high character kids. Shyatt is building this program the right way

Yeah I forgot about Gorski somehow . Not sure how. He is supposed to be the best shooter on the team this year even better than Grabau so wonder where he will play. Maybe he will rotate with Mac and James since he is a bigger guard.

Hopefully the coaches have done a lot of work with Barnes this year, as well as him getting stronger in the weight room. I talked to a couple of coaches familiar with Colorado high school basketball, and they said he was incredibly soft his senior year in high school. Went on to say they were surprised he went D1. I know Shyatt and crew are great developers, so hopefully that rings true for Barnes as well.

I am high on Conway as well. They are saying Trey is just as fast now though so not sure who will play. Based on that and Trey being his third year in the program was why I thought Trey would start but I am sure they will both play a lot.

I think they have and are. From the first time I saw Barnes this year until the last, I could see the improvement. He is still raw and wish he would have redshirted, but I think he can be a very good player for the Pokes.

The dude had a pretty impressive offer list....so more than just Shyatt and company wanted this guy.

Oh, I know. I was saying that to be super sarcastic. Just seems like every time there is a silver lining in anything, so many on here immediately just doom and gloom and look for the worse. I am not saying Josh was doing that, just saying the fact they were nominated is just dandy.

Not cynical at all, I'm just realistic.

Almost 500 boys were nominated in total. OK fine, they're good. But it's not like we got some blue-chip, can't-miss prospects.

Starting Five:

Conway
Adams
Gorski
Herndon
Barnes

Bench in order of playing time:
McM
James
Williams
Washington
Lieberman
Moemka/Naughton

Barnes starting? That's a long shot guess. I don't think it will happen. He can cut the cheese, but not the mustard.

Jeez two threads today talking about next year.

Oh well this is fun.
My too early guess.

Adams
Marshall
McM
Herndon
?Williams/Barnes

We lose one game as a ranked team and we start talking about next season.

It's the years of being a Wyo fan that causes this.

THIS YEAR WILL BE DIFFERENT!

We will bounce back and beat Fresno. We will bounce back at home and beat New Mexico (for the first time in these UW players career).
We will earn a ranking by Tourney time. Most importantly, we will compete for 1 or 2 MWC titles this season.

I never thought I would say it, but I am sure glad to see Beaver is back to irrational exuberance. It was depressing on the football board watching you become as cynical and pessimistic as the rest of us long time Wyoming sufferers, er...I mean, fans. Someone has to keep hope alive.

The problem with Pokes football is it has been scientifically proven to take 15 years off your life.

I haven't missed any of Lieberman's playing time and there is nothing that says he will ever be a starter
