Maybe there’s hope…

As much as I want the guy out of the head coach position, I do have some sympathy for his situation.

I think he is starting to realize that he doesn't have what it takes to be a head coach in today's college football world. It is a terrible feeling to be in a position that you don't have the competence for. I do think he can continue to be a successful DC somewhere.
This is presently where I am, too. The guy must be miserable and just hating life and hating himself. I am so thankful to not be in his shoes. Not a moment goes by that he isn't thinking about this whole affair. I'd like to see someone else as soon as possible, true 'nuf, but I can't really be hating on the guy.

A resignation possible?

It would not surprise me. Maybe a negotiated demotion of filling a coordinator position? A lot of people on this board have a ton more insight than me and know the ins and outs of UW's program more than I could ever hope to imagine. But I bet that guy hasn't had peace of mind since the Arizona disaster. And it keeps piling on. That team just looks like a mess from nearly every angle. No amount of money is worth utter misery. In a small town like Laramie, bet its hard to find a place to hide.

I really do hope Sawvel can find his stride and turn things around. It’s hard to watch a first year coach making such questionable mistakes in clock management and in game decisions, but as long as the players are learning and making adjustments, then maybe there’s a chance at improvement. If they aren’t throwing in the towel, then I’ll keep supporting. If Anderson and Waylee come in and they rattle off some wins to end the season, we have something to look forward to. It’s a winnable game in Albuquerque this weekend, then a break to get healthy, and win the border war! Cap it off with a win in Pullman and take the momentum into next season. I don’t think there’s a chance against Boise, but at least keep it interesting. No matter what, Go Pokes!

I agree and hope for the same. There have been a ton of coaching mistakes. Clock management, poor calls, flea flickers, 10 men on the field, poor defensive schemes, dumb QB rotation, neglecting Scott. But this team has been utterly destroyed by injuries and has proven to not have a very deep bench. My gosh, what team has ever had one of their star players (Ekeler) suffer two broken thumbs...and still play? That alone is almost funny if not pathetic. The RB corps decimated. A quarterback with a broken nose, etc., etc. So much has gone wrong it is almost a comedy. Lack of "next man up" might or might not be Sawvell's fault. But he sure has made some perplexing decisions. A few solid performances and a couple wins would be good medicine for this team.

The biggest impact to an offense is QB. He bombed on the QB choice and didn't adjust. I don't fault them for going with Svboda to start the year. I fault them for keeping him when we're 0-4. A new QB to start the new conference season with a clean slate is the perfect time to try and turn around the season. I think a lot of people underestimate how much Waylee meant to the team. Then we lose McNeely as well. Playing Scott earlier in the year appears that it would have helped a lot. I'm cautiously optimistic. Our offense looks somewhat competent under Anderson and can only be better with Harrison. I think we beat New Mexico and Colorado st if Anderson brings new life to the team. I'm a little worried about our Secondary against CSU but a beaten and bruised secondary did pretty good against a high scoring offense that Utah St had
