May not be "American" to say - but AFA football can suck it!

Hello all,

Long time POKES fan and a long time reader...first time post, so bear with me a bit.

I was intrigued with this post and wanted to give my two cents worth. I don't think that it is not "American" to say that you do not appreciate the way that the Air Force Academy is conducting itself on and off the field. I think that they have seriously lost their way at that institution, buying into the prestige and siren song of recognition and continued success. They...and I think their fans show this, felt that they were a bigger program than they actually were, puffing themselves up to feel superior to us and other MWC teams who weren't as consistent. That consistency was based primarily on the core concepts that the military is supposed to instill in its members, concepts that Howdy Doody does not personify and which are absent from anyone's mind when you talk about the Air Force. I used to have a modicum of compassion for Air Force, and even rooted for them at times other than for the Commander-In-Chief's trophy and when playing UW. Now, I feel that they do not deserve that respect, regard or even sympathy for the path they have laid out for themselves...and maybe that is the reason we are seeing what we are from the Falcons. You can respect a person in uniform all you want, but you dont need to fall in lockstep just because they are in uniform. Plenty of people throughout history and in the recent past have worn that symbol of service and been complete trash.
