Mason Drube Commits!

that's quite an offer list. Can anyone tell us more about the kid?

Mason is probably the most highly ranked QB prospect to come out of a Wyoming high school in the modern era. He has all the physical tools to be a successful pro-style quarterback at the college level. His arm strength and accuracy are good, but his biggest strength is his touch. He seems to have a knack for putting the right amount of loft/speed on his throws. If he puts in the time to really become a student of the game and master the offensive scheme, I think he has a good chance to be a very successful college QB.

I noticed Nebraska was not on his offer list. That is really the only other school that might be able to entice him away from UW. Not sure what kind of NIL money Nebraska has (I'm sure it is much more than UW), but I would fully expect Nebraska to come calling if he shows any ability to be successful at UW.

This is a big recruiting win for Jay Sawvel and his staff.

It’s great to get a commitment from the rare local QB prospect. But it is really early for a signing and what I’ve noticed is that the early commitments seem to change more than half the time in the modern NIL era. If he goes bonkers in the upcoming HS season, it might be tough to hold on.

Hopefully he will light it up this season. Even if it's for the Camels.

If he does, his phone will be lighting up with NIL agents trying to direct him to a different school.

Maybe he wants to play at UW in honor of his dad.

I think that is probably a big part of his commitment to UW. Pre-NIL that may have been enough to keep him at UW long-term. Now the money out there for even pretty average QB’s is insane. One good season at UW and he would likely have $500k deals coming his way. Hard to turn that kind of money down.

For now, glad he is part of UW. We don’t know what the future holds. Literally just have to take it one season at a time now.
